The Thing from another world

These comics could have been better, however I still enjoyed reading them since I consider the Carpenter remake as one of my favourate movies of all time.............

Quote:
Dark Horse Comics have produced several comic sequences based on the movie. There is a two part series that follows directly on from the movie called "The Thing from Another World". This is followed by a four part series called "Climate of Fear". The following summary demonstrates the path that the comics have taken.

The Thing - an alien organism capable of infecting, and assuming the form of, any living creature - was discovered in the frozen wreckage of an ancient spacecraft. Able to infect and takeover the bodies of new victims with a touch, The Thing attacked the 12 men of the U.S. Antarctic Research Outpost #31, killing all but two: MacReady and Childs.

Sometime later, a Navy SEAL team, led by Commander Erskine, arrived. The SEALs doubted MacReady's story of a monster from outer space, but before long Erskine's own men become infected by The Thing - and the infection spreads to an Argentine outpost many miles away.

There are several issues explored in the comic series that take a slightly different slant than the movie. I do not want to give away too many secrets. However there is one important issue explored throughout. The following information was obtained from an interview with Chuck Pfarrer - the script writer from the first series of comics.

"When you were watching THE THING... if there were three people in the room and two were contaminated, you would think that the two that were contaminated were working together. The spin I tried to put on this is that these Things don't work together, they are in competition. They're more than happy to knock each other off. That makes them more difficult to fight, because they would turn on themselves. The Thing will gnaw its own leg off if it has to. And those clues were given in the Carpenter film but he did not go all the way and say that."

You need "CDisplay" a comic viewer.

Get it here http://www.geocities.com/davidayton/CDisplay ;)

Enjoy! :beerchug:

You copy the link of the file you want to download, paste it into the textbox at the very bottom of the aMule window and click on "Commit".
