The Sandman (1991)

Image

Synopsis: This animation retells the traditional story of the sandman, but with decidedly sinister connotations. A little boy is sent upstairs to bed but is scared on his own. The sandman enters the house, climbs the stairs and tries to wake the now sleeping boy........

Notes: This highly stylised animation uses all the hallmarks of Expressionist cinema to create a highly atmospheric and tantalising reworking of a traditional tale. The atmosphere is dark and menacing, the lighting uses shadows to add to the atmosphere and highlight the difference between light, warmth, safety and dark danger. The film is beautiful to watch, and the power of the atmosphere and the narrative are mesmerising.

Director: Paul Berry.
Producer: Ian MacKinnon.

Cheers John. You have no idea how long i have searched for this, or how thrilled i was to find it. :D

Note to those who haven't seen it......This HAS to be worth 70 MB of disc space. Everyone who sees this loves it.

Metz video? That wouldn't be a TV ad would it? 'cos there was one that totally ripped The Sandman if i remember correctly.

Yeah, fair comment. Put much better than i did.

I also liked the ad, which had a Sandmanesque carachter prancing around a forest at night, if i remember correctly.

Edit. Thanks for reshare John. Will grab that! :beerchug:

@ Polityk......my pleasure. :D

He can still play his drum, he'll just have a spot of Barney Rubble admiring it!

Did you watch right to the very end GaMeR? Past the credits?

The little guy, he is not alone! :o

Maybe it was awesome, but I wouldn't call it happy.

That awesome ending made me sad.. I'm gonna catch that feathered sand guy and teach him how to respect little children.. Like Polityk's signature down there... Not the same thing but you get the idea, right :eatthis:
