don't know if anyone wants this but; its an artwork only front cover plate
of the Palace Pictures re-release of The Evil Dead

I had to buy the original video to get this, couldn't find a decent quality
version anywhere on the web. I wanted it to display in a big photo frame
with some other signed ED stuff.

Scanned in Photoshop CS, i cleaned up the spine creases and removed
all the lettering leaving only the artwork.

#################UPDATED-03/09/05##################

Ive used a scan of the new AB boxset cover art (Thanks to Avatar)
to fix the moon, i was never really happy with it. I also tweaked a few
other bits that where bugging me using Photoshop CS2, the links
below are updated and the old files are no longer shared. You can
see both the old & new versions below. I'm intending to get an A1
poster print of this done at prontaprint (or wherever) the quality
could be patchy blowing it up to that size, but i'll post on how it
turns out.

Image Image
....................Old Version...................................Updated Version

13.5MB (2694 X 4746px) Scanned at 600DPI (Prints same size as original video sleeve)
ed2k: Evil.Dead.Palace.VHS.Artwork.Plate.(600dpi)-SeeNoEvil.jpg  [13.42 Mb] [Stats]

35MB (2694 X 4746px) Scanned at 600DPI (the original Photoshop CS2 PSD file
just in case you want to do anything with it yourself)
ed2k: Evil.Dead.Palace.VHS.Artwork.Plate.(600dpi)-SeeNoEvil.psd  [35.06 Mb] [Stats]

In case anyone is interested it looks like AB did the same thing i have done
for their box set. seems strange that they couldn't get the original art, but
if you compare the VHS & DVD covers you can see they've taken the lettering
out. although they've made a much better job of the moon than i did originally,
i seem to have made a better job of the rest of it!?

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is another project i've just finished working on, its a composite of 2 pages
from 'The Evil Dead (Book Of The Dead Limited Edition)' and the signatures
of Bruce Campell, Rob Tapert & Sam Raimi taken from a 200 limited edition
signed copy of 'The Evil Dead Companion'

Image

18.7MB (5748 X 3845px) Scanned at 600DPI (Prints same size as original
BOTD pages)
Evil Dead Signed Artwork Plate (600dpi).jpg

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I thought i might as well add this, it's a high quality version of my avatar
in PSD format. It's modified from the UK Entertainment In Video VHS
release of Dawn Of The Dead. i originally intended to put this on a t-shirt,
but never got round to it.

Image

7.2MB (1512 X 1512px) Scanned at 200DPI (Prints same size as on original video sleeve)
ed2k: Dawn.Of.The.Dead.VHS.Cover.Artwork.(Entertainment.In.Video.UK).(200dpi)-SeeNoEvil.psd  [7.19 Mb] [Stats]

They are all being Powershared permantly from now on.

Great work there See No Evil.

I have this Palace video amoung my collection, as well as the Pre-Cert but will defiently give this a click and also, thanks for the artwork only cover.

Especially as they are getting really tattered and knackered these original VHS covers!!!

Might come in handy.

This is much appreciated indeed, thanks

That reminds me, I have another Palace video - Big Meat Eater, and the artwork is by the same guy that did this Evil Dead video. I didn't think I'd be able to find the pic on the internet, but amazingly I did (cropped though:( doesn't really do it justice but better than nothing):

Even more amazingly, Big Meat Eater is coming out on DVD!! It really is a mental film.

I went into a shop once and they had the same Palace pre-cert vid as mine for ?80! I asked the guy in the shop why and he said because that guys artwork is very collectable. Anybody know his name or have any more pics?

I had a quick look around and found this on Anchor Bay forums

Quote:
A lot of the cover artwork for the Palace vids was done by Graham Humphries - if you buy ABUK's Evil Dead Trilogy box set(currently going cheap in HMV's sale bargain hunters!), you can see an interview with him on there. He also did lots of great covers for album and single sleeves(there was an especially good 3D one for a cramps record....)

Quote:
I loved the cover artwork on the old Palace videos. They were done by this great illustrator who's name escapes me at the moment. He did a brilliant cover for Night of the Creeps for the UK release.
I know he did production artwork for Island of Dr Moreau when Richard Stanley was still attached.

Not sure if anyone in bothered, but searched a bit more and it looks like he is an illustrator for children's books but couldn't find any examples. He also did the artwork for these talking Dalek toys:

I was always wondering if the signed postcard I have was really signed by Bruce, but comparing the signatures proves it to be genuine. :beerchug: :beerchug: :beerchug:

...and gotta love those old videoshop keepers making their videos up like Panini sticker albums - this ones got 18 certificate stickers over 18 certificates!
