This will probably be my next release:

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0210909/

I'm working on a dual ac3 with commentary so it's going to be 2-CD-size. I'll keep a single 1.4 gig file. Would you guys prefer me to split it into CDs before releasing or not?

The first one 'Plaga Zombie' will follow (also with commentary) but as 1-CD with dual MP3 - only 70 mins runtime.

I would go for the two cd version. So that's where my vote went.

Cheers :beerchug:

2cd for 70mins is waaaaaaaaay over the top, you'll be wasting lots of mb on that one.

You can easily fit 2 mp3 tracks on a one cd and still make it very great quality. commentries need only be 64 kb/s or less.

AC3 really isn't needed for movies where it isn't:
1) 6 channel
2) a good mix
Which excludes most movies without a budget. The exception is if you have the space and its a solid mix, but here your making space solely for ac3 tracks that aren't either that hot.

If its 2.0 or 1.0 its an utter waste of space imo, mp3 vbr is better rip option.

I don't recall having a good rip of this, so if its possible i'd love to get a decent 1cd.

Oops, looks like I've caused some confusion.

Plaga Zombie - Mutant Zone is the sequel and about 100 mins long. Best options seem to be either

1) 2 CD (ac3 2.0): allows me to keep both audios (only 2 channel btw) at an appropriate bitrate for the video

or

2) 1 CD without commentary and only MP3 vbr audio.

I've tried a 1-CD with both audio tracks (MP3) and it won't work. To much steadycam and fast pans.
That's why I went for 1.4 gigs in the first place. And at ~1500 kbits it lets me keep both audio tracks with no transcoding.

Bottom line: One CD will only work without the commentary. Two CD will have enough bitrate to allow 2xac3 2.0 @1500 kbit video bitrate.

------------

Finally, to help the confusion:

Plaga Zombie (1997 - 70 mins) has been released in the LQ section IIRC. Here's the IMDB:

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0212430/

I'll do a 1-CD dual with MP3 vbr of that one once the sequel, which hasn't been released yet, is spread.

Plaga Zombie - Mutant Zone (2001 - 100 mins) is the sequel and the movie I'll release first using one of the above encoding options. IMDB:

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0210909/

Maybe I should ad a '1-CD with MP3 and no commentary' option to the poll for the sequel (Mutant Zone)?

oops

In that case, I'd love a proper of the first (since the res is really tiny on that other one).

As for as the latter goes, i'd *still* I'd take a 1cd though on the sequel, AC3 2.0 is pretty useless for movies like this, and if you want a horror movie to stay shared its better not to do a 2cd. It just seems like padding the movie out of 2cds rather than a necessity.. you have the movie though, how does it look as a 1cd? Am I guessing right?

that's a point, for all the directors commentries included there's maybe one or two that i listened to. Forbidden Zone was one, and that was due to the movie.

There's some terrible tracks on some of these low budget movies, worst one i heard is where the director just walked off after 30mins and put on some music... pathetic

So far I only did a 1-CD with two mp3 tracks I wasn't happy with. I'll do a straight 1-CD then and see how it looks. :)

Edit: for the sequel - to keep things clear. ;)

There's nothing to stop releasing mp3 as a seperate track, then if someones desperate, players like MPC allow you to play any audio file with the same name in the directory (kind of like how subs work).

That way it won't eat away 20-30mb or however much it takes.

What encoding matrix are you using, have you tried Jawor's 1CD Matrix? That's quite good, but depends on the quality of the source.

Spud took my suggestion on releasing a seperate track. One cd is more than sufficient for this work.2 cd like he said would be overkill. To much stock is taken for AC3..I understand the reasoning..but for movies like this I see it is a bit pointless.Just my opinion though

I've been using H.263. I've just DL'd Jawor and I'll give it a try. I've just installed the latest Xvid. I'll see if I can get it to work. :)

I did a test encode using Jawor and the rip looks good (at least the first impression). For some reason it was a little (4 MB) oversized though.

I'll reduce the filesize and encode it again. After IVTC I get a bit/pixel of about 1.85 so reducing the filesize a little shouldn't be a problem.
