When I was in Berlin a while ago, I bought the DVD of "The Spider" from the Arkoff Film Library. Inside was a set of postcards with the movieposters of the other 8 horror movies of the AFL on it.

Today I visited another DVDshop (a very large one with loads of - expensive - horror), not to anyone's surprise I think ;) and I found several others, which makes the total that I own 8 out of 9.

They are:

Blood of Dracula (1957)
Day the World Ended (1955)
How To Make A Monster (1958)
The She-Creature (1956)
Earth vs the Spider (1958)
The Undead (1957)
Voodoo Woman (1957)
War of the Colossal Beast (1958)

There is one missing still, that is The Brain Eaters (1958).

Questions:

1) Is anyone interested? I know that "Earth vs the Spider" is already posted on the scifi forum and that "The Undead" is recently posted here, but that one wasn't a DVD rip and all others I couldn't find on HHAH.

2) Should I eventually post them one by one or in a collection?

Added "War of the Colossal Beast" (forgot that one before).

Thanks, fierysky, that will be one DVD less to rip :beerchug:

I would love

BLOOD OF DRACULA
HOW TO MAKE A MONSTER
THE UNDEAD

I can contribute with THE BRAIN EATERS. I would prefer full dvds, but can go for rips too. I will have TBE ready by the end of next week, do you all want it as a DVD or DivX?

You mean full DVDs as in ISO's?

Most movies posted here are Xvid rips, of about 700-1400 MB.

Since there are 9 movies, we could do all as 1/3 DVDs, but we could also go for standard 700 MB, as these movies are all from the fifties, and don't have any surround sounds or other techy stuff in them. I'll wait and see for a while what other people prefer, 1/3 or 700.

End of next week I'm going on vacation for a week or so, but when I get back, I'll start on this thing. Thanks for contributing, Font! :beerchug:

After I get back from vacation, I'd like to know if people prefer 700 MB rips or 1/3 DVD rips.

700 MB has the advantage that the rips offered here by fierysky and Font are probably 700 MB so we can start spreading the collection sooner and faster.

Also, like said before, these movies don't really need AC3 sound because of their age.

1.4 GB on the other hand has its obvious quality reasons, but... (read above)

What do you guys/girls want?

Other question: what is best? Release the movies one by one or put them in a collection without individual release threads?

Do them all as 1/4 DVD rips with MP3 audio I say, they're all old movies with mono soundtracks.

Release them individually, then when they are all spread make the collection.

Aren't there in total 10 films of the arkhoff film library? AFAIK these are the ones (in no particular order):
1) Day the World Ended
Image

2) How to Make a Monster
Image

3) The Spider
Image

4) War of the Colossal Beast
Image

5) The Brain Eaters
Image

6) The She-Creature
Image

7) The Undead

8] Voodoo Woman

9) The Blood of Dracula

10) Reform School Girl

Where as Reform School Girl has already been ripped by me, but it appears to be dead and i don't have the rip anymore due to a HDD crash a while back. I'm willing to rip it again. But if there is a total of 10 films of 'em how about all 1/5 DVD so they fit on 2 DVD's? That is if all are available to rip from DVD :beerchug:

QUALITY, please! We're talking about REAL films here, not modern effects with no script. At the very least 1/3 DVD rips.

I love these movies :-)

Well AFAIK there all black and white and around 70-80 minutes so a 1/3 for each would probably be a overkill. But if that's what's preferred...

I ripped two of them up to now, as 1/6 DVDs. As they are all old, B&W and with mono sound, 1/3s would really be overkill. 1/5 sounds nice, but there will always be people who don't want to have them all, or have other reasons to want a ifferent size. Because 1/6 is enough to preserve quality, an it helps spreading the files faster, I chose that.

I have Reform School Girl as well, but it's not a horror movie (I mean, there's no monster or something horrorish in it) and in the AFL there are several more movies about race cars etc. I didn't include them because they aren't horror.

edit: I have looked around a bit and Reform School Girl is mentioned in different places as the 10th movie from AFL, divided in two DVD volumes. So if people want it, I can add it for the sake of completion (I guess the racecar movies are in Vol. 3 or something totally different, however I have seen the AFL logo on the backside of the DVD case).

I'll release Blood of Dracula tomorrow.

I have released until now:

Blood of Dracula (1957)
How To Make A Monster (1958)
Voodoo Woman (1957)
War of the Colossal Beast (1958)

I have ripped "Day The World Ended" and I'm busy doing "The She-Creature".

I also managed to purchase the last DVD for the collection: "The Brain Eaters" (it seemed to be the last one available in NL).
