Today I bought a limited edition box set of Guinea Pig, it looks like this one (except mine is nr 2499):

Image

It contains the following:

* GP - Devils Experiment (1985)
* GP - Flowers of Flesh & Blood (1985)
* GP - He Never Dies (1986)
* GP - Mermaid in a Manhole (1988)
* GP - Android of Notre Dame (1988)
* GP - Devil Woman Doctor (1990)
* GP - Making of Guinea Pig (1986)
* GP - Making Of Devil Woman Doctor (1990)

If there is any interest, would you please tell me how big you want the files? Back in 2005 spud said he'd like 350 MB a piece, but that was with mp3 sound, and I can of course make AC3 sound. I'm also hoping I can make separate subtitles.

Slayer, Flowers of Flesh & Blood is my favourite. Is it possible to release using h.264, and mkv format?

Is this released by Unearthed? They included a re-edited fake snuff version of the 2nd one which sounds interesting.

Maybe rip all 8 so they fit on a DVD?

Although I'm not bothered too much about filesizes (haven't backed up to disc for years), nor HQ sound (none of these were filmed in anything better than basic stereo anyway), so as long as the quality is good it doesn't really matter too much.

Yeah, I was planning on ripping them all when there was interest, so Flowers of Flesh and Blood will be there too. I have never ripped with h.264 until now and I personally dislike .mkv, so I can give it a try with the h.264 but then it will be avi. Don't know if that makes using the h.264 obsolete, I'm sure you guys can tell me that.

For sizes: it would be something like 500 MB per part if they would all fit on one DVD, which sounds OK. I'm not nacking up to disc anymore either, so that's why I was asking.

Any other ideas/opinions? I'm taking my time on this one, so please add!

Slayer, yes, I think you can use avi for h.264. It's just another container file. The subs will have to be a separate file though, but that's no problem and 500MB sounds fine to me. Just one question, Making of Guinea Pig, does this one include the making of Flowers? Now that I would be very interested in also.

The making of Guinea Pig is about all episodes and shows how the sfx were done mostly. If I look at the back of the DVD, they have screenshots there from Flowers of Flesh and Blood and from He Never Dies, so they will be in at least.

This is the German boxset if I'm not mistaken, which means it isn't mastered nearly as well as the Unearthed releases.

However, I don't see anyone stepping up with a full set of Unearthed discs so this will be gratefully received. :)

Yup, it is the German boxset. I thought I had mentioned that already, but apparently I forgot. The manufacturer is Devil Pictures.

Junkboy has been looking into it and made a script. I'm a bit busy right now, but I'll be looking into it shortly. I have some older rips ready for release in the meantime, and as I release one rip per week, expect a release in a month or so (maybe two).

Update: busy ripping this stuff. Unfortunately for the h.264 fans, I'm not using it: I'll need time to learn more about it before I'm gonna rip that way.

Rips are gonna be 500MB each, with mp3 sound and separate subs. Quality looks good so far. Some problems to tackle still, but with the help of junkboy those are gonna be solved too. Please have a little more patience, it will be worth it ;)
