And from that stricken, far-away spot he had seen something feebly rise, only to sink down again upon the place from which the great shapeless horror had shot into the sky. It was just a colour - but not any colour of our earth or heavens. They could not stay, though; and one sometimes wonders what insight beyond ours their wild, weird stories of whispered magic have given them. - The Colour out of Space by H.P. Lovecraft RipperMortis wrote: | IMDB InfoQuote: | In this second adaptation of H.P. Lovecraft's story "The Colour out of Space," a huge, glowing meteorite falls on a farm in Tellico Plains, Tennesse. After the meteorite melts into the soil, strange mutations occur on the farm. The fruit and livestock become filled with maggots, cabbage and chickens become filled with green slime, and certain members of the farm family become swollen, slime-drooling mutants. Now two of the farmer's children who wisely avoided the meteorite's contamination seek outside help. |

Thought so... But really, the whole movie made me think about the Great Cthulhu emerging from the sea with his cohorts of monsters lurking in the dark. Well, I'm a loner anyways. Nico

I have dwelt ever in realms apart from the visible world; spending my youth and adolescence in ancient and little-known books, and in roaming the fields and groves of the region near my ancestral home. I do not think that what I read in these books or saw in these fields and groves was exactly what other boys read and saw there; but of this I must say little, since detailed speech would but confirm those cruel slanders upon my intellect which I sometimes overhear from the whispers of the stealthy attendants around mearkhane wrote: |

At last, the stars are finally right...
The H.P. Lovecraft Historical Society presents its all new silent film of The Call of Cthulhu. The famed story is brought richly to life in the style of a classic 1920s silent movie, with a haunting original symphonic score. Using the "Mythoscope" process a mix of modern and vintage techniques, the HPLHS has worked to create the most authentic and faithful screen adaptation of a Lovecraft story yet attempted.
Lovecraft's Story
The Call of Cthulhu is HP Lovecraft's most famous story. It is the only story to feature the celebrated monster Cthulhu and in many ways it encapsulates the ideas that went on to permeated Lovecraft's Cthulhu Mythos. The film follows the story's three-part narrative construction, and it moves from the 1920s to 1908 to the1870s and back, as the story does. The story embodies HPL's nihilistic world view, his cosmic perspective, and his sense that mankind is doomed by its own insignificance. And it's a pretty good globe-trotting adventure story.
The HPLHS Story
We are a couple of guys with backgrounds in theatre and film. We've run the HPLHS for 20 years now and have created several Lovecraftian CDs and films. We decided we wanted to take one of Lovecraft's stories and make it into a movie that was as effective as the story was. The Call of Cthulhu seemed like a great choice: it's a famous story, never before adapted to film. It also presents some daunting challenges to independent filmmakers (ships at sea, giant monsters, islands rising from the ocean, huge cast, etc...). We started filming the project in the summer of 2004 and completed the movie in the fall of 2005.

What the hell is Mythoscope?
Mythoscope is the term we coined for our technique of using modern technology and vintage filmmaking techniques to create a film that has the look of old movie film. The glow, flicker and noise you see in the footage are part of the Mythoscope process and they are added to the film after editing is complete.
And Mythophone?
A: Mythophone is the audio companion to Mythoscope. We take the beautiful high-fidelity audio created by our composers and we make it sound like it was recorded and played back on 1920s era equipment.

I dream of a day when they may rise above the billows to drag down in their reeking talons the remnants of puny, war-exhausted mankind --of a day when the land shall sink, and the dark ocean floor shall ascend amidst universal pandemonium -- for in the black pitted depths the darkened eyes of the old sea and all his hideous worship, lie in wait towards the day that is the sunken earth. - Dagon (H.P. I have harnessed the shadows that stride from world to world to sow death and madness --These things should be left to the frigid and impersonal investigator, for they offer two equally tragic alternatives to the man of feeling and action; despair if he fail in his quest, and terrors unutterable and unimaginable if he succeed. - From Beyond (H.P Lovecraft) telmoMRC wrote: |

Whoever speaketh of Cthulhu shall remember that he but seemeth dead, he sleeps, and yet he does not sleep, he has died and yet he is not dead, asleep and dead though he is, he shall rise again. Again it should be shown that In dark forgotten corners of the world, gates still gape to loose, on certain nights, Shapes pent in the darkened side of the earth." hammers66 wrote: | Cthulhu (2007) DVDRiP-XViD-FRAGMENT Quote: | Genre : Thriller / Drama Tagline : Welcome home...to the end of the world. The one I can't find anywhere that I'm searching 6 years for is the animated 100min "Dream Quest of Unknown Kadath" by Edward Martin III. It seems like no one has this particular title and my collection is rather incomplete...

yea.. this was shown at some festivals about the place around my town. It is worth seeing.. A collaborative effort done by amateur film makers who are fans of the author. Here is the trailer so you can get an idea of it As you can see it is very less a film and more of a art project. Worth a look but in truth you can see flash animation on the net with better production vales. The music is good though... Some things are just rare... special recent and low audience type things... you may just have t BUY this yourself and support a local non-profit film maker. http://www.guerrilla-productions.org/Merchandise.html

I've already seen the trailer and it looks promising and I do like original and/or weird material. I do tend to buy movies that I like in order to support their production (more so if it's a european or independant production...holywood can certainly live without my money heh) but I want to see it first...worst thing ever is buying something and then realize it sucks or just not for you.

They walk unseen and foul in lonely places where the Words have been spoken and the Rites howled through at their Seasons. The wind gibbers with Their voices, and the earth mutters with Their consciousness. They bend the forest and crush the city, yet may not forest or city behold the hand that smites. Kadath in the cold waste hath known Them, and what man knows Kadath?
