You'll probably want to get some screens in there to show if it is good quality. ;)

EDIT: Just saw the comment about not having time to post that stuff.

Oh, and 735MB, it's either an undersized 1/6th DVD rip or an oversize 1 CD rip, neither of which really point to "High Quality". Not trying to be a dick, just offering some advice. :)

Screens are up.

ViSCeRaL, no problem at all, I don't really know that much about it so any advice is welcome.

Hopefully it meets the correct standards. :)

Hope you all enjoy! :beerchug:

All is good, except you didn't crop it enough on top and bottom :(

Could you perhaps do a re-rip? :)

Lux, I can definitely do a re-rip but it seems like no matter what I do I can't get G/K to crop it.

I go to (crop, before resize!) and click on pixel and then crop it with the arrows and then click (smart crop all).

Then after it is done it doesn't crop it.

Leave the cropping on Pixel and manually crop it to the right size. You might find you need to overcrop by a couple of pixels to get rid of the crud at the edge of the picture.

Smart crop all can mess with the AR. :(

PS. Nice that you can take some constructive criticism and advice. Many have thrown a strop and buggered off when faced with a few helpful comments.

No problem, believe me I know that I don't know much about it.

I am going to try that right now and hopefully it will come out better. Then I will post screens. :)

Well, I just tried it again and the same thing

This time, however, the picture came out much granier and looked bad.

Gonna give it another try.

Well here are some screens from another rip. Don't know if the cropping worked out the way it should or not. The source DVD is in some kind of super-widescreen, but I'm not sure if that matters.

If anyone wants to see anymore screens just let me know. Sorry if I'm not getting this right, I have had much better luck with another dvd that I ripped last night. It came out exactly as I wanted it to as far as the cropping goes. Don't know what it is about this one.

Looks pretty good, could you just give a screen of someones face (close-up) looking in the direction of the camera? :)

Think it looks good :D

Whoah, that's the wrong ratio! The previous one had it right, this one is 1.85 instead of the original 2.35, everything is stretched vertically.

It wouldn't matter to me, or anyone else who has XBMC or is using a video player that can change a video file's ratio, but if you want your rips to be universally accepted I'd do another one.

Just keep trying until you get it right, and learn from your mistakes, it'll be worth it in the end. We all make errors with our early rips (my first was Ghostwatch and I forgot to use de-interlace)

Aah! the days of DivX 3 Low-Motion...

You'll become a good ripper in the end and this board will be more than grateful for it! 8)

Here are some close-ups of this one.

Edit:

Just noticed the new posts, must have been while I was taking shots. So what am I going for on this one? I'm getting a little confused now. For some reason the aspect on this film doesn't want to act right.

One thing I am having such a hard time with is that the original DVD has a ultra-widescreen. When I play the dvd almost half of the picture has the black bars at the top of the bottom. I would say that the picture only takes up 1/3 of the screen. While most of the other dvds I have a lot smaller black bars. Even the zoom feature on my standalone doesn't want to stretch it that much to fit.

PS: All help is much appreciated :D

On the resolution tab, go to input pixel ratio and select anamorphic 16:9 since it seems to be an anamorphic DVD you're ripping. Then, go to the DGindex window and make sure the resized option is ticked in the view options.

Next click auto crop, then smart crop all and you should see the video in a 2.35 ratio and cropped. If you need to do any minor adjustments to the cropping do it now (it seems you do from the first set of captures).

Hope this helps, you'll get there in the end! :D
