Sounds like Dusk Till Dawn, bet it ain't half as good *click* |
evil dead, the thing, from dusk til dawn, .... yeah, thats exactly it.
and while i thought it was okay, not exactly highly entertaining but solid and decent for what it is, it really isnt half as good as any of the movies they`d pay hommage to here indeed.
digital camera footage, in many scenes too dark, in the action scenes too "experimental" (tryin to create the chaotic uptempo action vibe they need for the attack-sequences).
key elements that could have made it special were missed or treated sloppily.
a few funny moments, decent acting, pieces that keep sticking together, the flow is alright, the whole project is very professionally handled, about half of the attacks were staged in an amusing, engaging way.
it looks pretty okay on the surface, considering its a 1+2 million dollar project, only i would definitely miss something here, and ultimately the flick left me rather uninvolved. underneath the surface, its very generic after all.
for a 1 time watch, it definitely gets my recommendation tho.
i bet this could have been something really cool, if there was a little more time, more money and some supervision by an experienced horror screenplay writer and a veteran genre director steppin in as an advisor of sorts.
it is being received rather positively by the critics
http://www.moviereviewindex.com/reviews/69914/ and if director gulager wasnt a middle aged guy, i`d say 'keep an eye on this young up and coming directing talent, he might be comin around the corner with some real treats for all the (creature) horror buffs out there in the not so distant future'.
