what browser are you using, make sure its up to date. bare in mind i deleted the sessions table when the server went into read-only mode, so you would have to login again.

I wrote a script that logged in repeatedly since it was first reported. Not one single false login; its just not something i am able to repeat. It was using selenium and firefox (latest). No virus scanners, shit browsers, etc. mind.

I'd suggest you hit clear boardcookies, and delete all your passwords remembered from the 'known passwords' in your browser. You could have mistyped the password on the mainpage and not on the second, for example, if you use autocomplete.

I'm using FF version 1.9.2.3989, I'm having VG free in the background but that never causes any problems (I'd be surprised if AVG was the cause of this).

I never use auto complete and I never let any program, browser or different, remember any passwords.

Cookies only remember my username.

You are changing session id, you post with one session id, then 302 and login with correct session data.

Just to confirm, you login via:
ucp.php?mode=login
and not any other url?

No, I login through http://forum.dead-donkey.com/ and then use the login boxes at the bottom of the page. Lately, this redirects me to the page you linked to and I have to log in again.

weird i just did it twice (once for login, and once for admin login), and got it first time. Hit F5 if you can't read it.

fyi, the site's disk went into read-only mode again. Very odd. no errors or faults locally, must be the datacenter having problems again

I've send a ticket to the data center to take a look; I've also cleared down the disk space.
Centos is performing a bit crappy all of a sudden.

I just had this again. Why can't I simply log in the first time when using the bottom login on the idnexpage?

i've just deleted all session data slayer, as i said the site was down so that would be why you needed to login. Selenium tests are fine still, I've even cleared the cache but its all fine. I've just gone ahead and removed that login box, its a placebo pill though

I suspect you won't have any problems now, and your saved passwords won't be filled in anymore on some browsers since its a different form.

I've also put weaker capcha on, so i don't know if that means more spam. Blame Jynks needing glasses for that.

I just had the exact same problem on Sharevirus upon logging in at the bottom of the page. Both SV and DD were down in the past few days. Same cause?

Your browser
You should only change session if you have privacy plugins, are deleting cookies, have a virus scanner, are changing ips regularly, etc.

I was not talking about the same cause for my failed login, but for the downtime ;)

For some reason, on SBiG I can login at the bottom of the page without any kind of trouble, using the same browser, the conditions are totally the same as for DD. That's why I don't think it is (just) my browser.

I can finally login automatically now that I'm using LastPass. :)

Just ticking the "auto login" box never worked for me before.

That's because we haven't paid $15 to $200 a year for an ssl cert, its self signed. You either have self-signed or no ssl. Just click:
https://forum.dead-donkey.com
"The certificate is not trusted because it is self signed."

Donate $60 and I'll get you an ssl cert for each subdomain for a year:
