yeah, dunno which site it is, host didn't mention just there's a DDoS attack going on which obviously causes timeouts on the backend.

Problem is its exactly the same errors we were getting on the other box, as soon as I saw one i complained.

Only other problem would be that mysql/php are misconfigured, but its nothing i can fix, just report em.

Has anybody else had the problem of not being able to get the first page of the 'ultimate exploitationcollection' thread loading.
Whenever i try to look at it it just comes up 'Internal Server error' but when i click on to page 2 it loads O.K.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Same here. I also get the same '500 Internal Server Error' while using search sometimes. And it's not a case of bad connection.

BTW, this could be another argument for splitting your collection, Dxa.

There was another DDoS on one of the servers at our host today, but its getting a bit silly now, I don't think they are related to be honest.

Unfortunately, its a server configurationissue, not something wrong with hhah. Shy of moving host and trying to get our host to fix it, the only other thing is to move servers to another host and it was hard enough trying to find one last time.

I don't know if i have permissions to override server wide settings for php and mysql, because its one of these two that I suspect is the culprit. Most likely mysql because I managed to get a 500 error when using phpmyadmin back on the other server.

kinda, when there's heavy load on other sites it does it, but that one in particular is a large amount of data being retrieved from mysql so i think the timeouts for mysql are probably misconfigured. connection to mysql from php is probably dying and then its getting a 500 from php.

At a guess.

So can anything be done about this or do I need to start a new thread or something?

do not start a new thread, it is something they will fix.

They've probably just "tweaked" mysql far too much that its dying before we are getting data back from the database

Its not like the data isn't there or anything, its just dying when it tries to retrieve it. You've actually created a theoretical maximum for the mysql in phpbb, since you've got a max field type, with the most intensive query it performs this side of installing. The only i could do to make it worse is increase the number of posts per page.

However, other sql statements are dying, like a listing of all topics on the frontpage for inserting a new movie so its definitely all down to configuration of the server.

I'd just say hold tight on that one and continue to report 500 errors, which i'll pass on to the hosts.

I've given them as much info as i can, and the thread in question and hopefully they can use that to fix the problem.

No..wasn't worried about losing the work since I got the FHC file but was concerned about it not displaying..I'll just be patient and hold my water till it gets fixed...no use in updating though right now. :)

Thats a known bug atm, dont worry about it too much, Spuds been in contact with the host & trying to sort it. Basically theres too much info on these threads & the server is timing out due to a misconfiguration. Personally though I think sensibly that these threads could be split into sections that dont take half hour to load the page lol (I wont click em for that reason)
