The topics (series) in scifi do have it their title.

What does the dropdown actually do? you can select movies/tv links/etc
But afaik that doesn't alter the results, or am I mistaken.

Hi I am new to the site. I tried to intruduce myself in the "Welcome new users topic" but unfortunately it was locked. :(

The first thing is, that I noticed a bug. When I click the "News" link/picture after the site has loaded I am redirected to an error page.

Link leads to: http://www.dead-donkey.com/modules/news ... /index.php

And redirects me to: http://www.dead-donkey.com/error.php?id=404

Nevertheless, I am looking forward to sharing horror movies with all of you. :googley:

Can you paste the page you clicking the link from, it sounds like http:// if missing from infront of the link but i can't spot where.

Introduction thread is unlocked, you might have clicked a different one :

I enter the URL "http://www.dead-donkey.com" into the browser and it loads the main page. After the page is loaded the browser's url field contains:

http://www.dead-donkey.com/modules/news ... intro=true

After that I see 3 images in the "Site Section" section. I click the left one (image source is "http://forum.dead-donkey.com/images/sections/misc2.gif") and I am redirected to the error page.

I noticed a strange behaviour of the site - I am not sure whether it's a bug.

Here is what I do:
1. Visit the site with the URL http://www.dead-donkey.com
2. Log in at the right-bottom section of the page
3. Click the Forum image (Site Section section)
4. *TADAM* I am not logged in anymore

Is this normal?

They are different; issue with using phpbb's session table would be that you may log into the frontpage and then leave, that would mark all the topics read in the forums since its all based around session timestamp.

So instead its a compeltely different session table; means you have to log into both seperately.

So its kind of by design.

Yup, I've received similar error messages and one like this:

This server is experiencing database problems! Please try again later.

But thanks to spud (the destroyer :D) everything is in order now.

Their was a powercut in the city in which the boxes are hosted, and they didnt put the box on a ups. Wouldn't have been a major amount of downtime except they didn't run any clean up or check the database for locks after it came back up; so the tables were all locked

You have attempted too many searches. Please wait 30 seconds before searching again.

I wait for 30+ seconds but still get this message. When doing searches for lists of titles, this becomes a pain in the ass. Is there really no solution for it?

When I did my first searches on this site I never got that message. Or am I glorifying the past now? (I wouldn' be surprised if I were ;))

You have a frontpage login like me right?

Don't log it out

You can log out of the forum & remain logged in the frontpage & you no longer have to wait 30 secs

Slayer, spam.
Its not a nice query its performing, its less efficient than the phpbb searches although the mysql optimiser should fix the query somewhat. Flood filters are in place on all the searches.

I just logged out and checked, I can search again every 30 seconds.
I've tried this 10 times. Everything seems perfectly fine with it as far as i can see.

Are you waiting or just hitting F5 repeatedly for 30 seconds? I don't think that will matter, iirc it will only write time() after a successful search and the filter is just checking the time against your last successful.

I could reduce it to 10 seconds for registered users i guess.... the thing is, i'm not even sure its set at 30s at the moment, it seemed more like 10s before i could search again but i can't be arsed counting
