1. i have university sites on my list and haven't been a student for about a year
2. I hate bt, yet have 4 bt sites
3. I never use drunkendonkey or fucktheinter.net
4. I don't use o2
5. I no longer subscribe to screen-select
6. I no longer visit any of those game sites and sold hl2

So nothing to take personally, the only things i click are this site, fileheaven, website links and halifax ;)

I guess its about time i updated the list come to think of it.

yup, hl2, hl1:s, cs:s, dod... it was the complete package, got more than i paid for it too since i got hl2 free with my graphics card.

Didn't see the point of owning a game i never played. I'd have kept it if it wasn't for all that steam shit, but it bugged me what they were doing.

I have posted the current working development of forum.dead-donkey.com at another site. This is the current progress in porting over to phpbb3:
http://www.bothanspies.com/beta.dead-donkey.com/

Your existing login details will work, all your board rights should be the same, however there are no posts since the database would be quite large. Feel free to post topics but don't post anything copyrighted.

The look and feel is currently under development, I would appreciate feedback on the theme but be aware i'm probably working on a lot of it already. Its a significant way from being finalised in anyway, and stuff like the placing and sizing of visual elements are changing all the time on my local dev box.

However, if you go on that url its something for you to "play with".

Once again, there's a fair whack of work to go, i've not had chance to touch it all week

Ah okey.

I've moved to phpBB3 and everything seems to be working. Still need to implement the index again. But that's no biggie

One thing I really dislike about phpBB3 is that it stores parsed messages in the database and not the raw entered msg.
Which reeeaally sucks.

yes, post processing is/was my number one feature of phpbb; invision, etc. are all really shitty because they lack it.

It allows you to markup text without messing with the integrity of the original post. The db caching should have been a performance option you enable imo, a poor choice for the phpbb team.

That and offering no upgrade plan for phpbb html. That sucks.

Any chance you could send me a tar ball of the sources so i can do a diff? There's been three RCs released since i did some mods...

Then again, there's the risk i'm gonna have to rewrite em all again when it is actually released

:suicide:

Well post processing isn't bad, they just should store both versions.
A raw msg and the processed one.that way you can easily change the processed on if you ever change the way how it gets processed.

Not much I changed, can make a tar no problem.

Would be cool :)

IMO, DB should never store only post-processed data like it does; captured data should be as basic as possible so you can translate into any possible future form without have to keep re-marking it up... to me it makes a lot more sense that they cache the data as flat files, or cache the marked up copy in another table (flat file is better imo since it makes it very simple)

I'm not convinced by the argument to drop html support or abandon post-processing; i loved the bbcode mechanism they had previously.
