Okay, I'm in need of a few people to help scan through the forums and frontpage for glaring errors after we migrate and before i update the nameservers (for those that don't know about the interwebs, DNS entries point to lower down servers which eventually resolve to an ip which is serving the site) the site will likely be up and running on the new server and this old site will be locked to prevent sneaky posters.
Anyway, I will be needing some people to check the new site (I will distribute an ip to put in your hosts files):
- Firstly, a scan of the forums to check that older topics, collections, etc. display as they should do without posting anything into the site.
- To check that the features are working as best they should
- Report any bugs on the frontpage ie. try searching, signing in, etc.
- Then I would like any reports on the responsiveness of the newer host. I am expecting better performance than we currently get.
- Once the above is complete, I will make the nameserver change to begin the propagation of the new host.
- The early testers can be begin posting if they wish since they will already have the ip
- I will publish the hosts file entry to http://www.bothanspies.com/service/status.html , and the old http://www.dead-donkey.com frontpage .
