yes, merging works fine. If the topic is near the top of a forum, choose merge topic from drop box, otherwise, choose merge posts. Under merge post past the topic id (of the recipient thread) into the box, make sure all the boxes are checked for the posts you want to merge and hit merge. Is that the process you were using?

same shit, different label... you are using hotmail and microsoft actively censor your mails http://www.news.com/2009-1023-251171.html?legacy=cnetone other thing it could be; they haven't updated their dns yet.... i think they need that for mails to arrive. Can you fire off an email to msn? http://hotmail.msn.com/cgi-bin/dasp/ua_info.aspsend them this: Quote: | C:\>ping http://www.dead-donkey.comPING dead-donkey.com (92.48.193. : 56 data bytes 64 bytes from 92.48.193.8: icmp_seq=0 ttl=47 time=33 ms ----dead-donkey.com PING Statistics---- 1 packets transmitted, 1 packets received, 0.0% packet loss round-trip (ms) min/avg/max/med = 33/33/33/33 |
Also do this in your hotmail account: http://greatday.com/members/hotmailunblock/If it doesn't clear up in a week I am going to have to block all registrations from hotmail/msn/affiliates.

that whole microsoft thing sucks, old news but anyways... never had any problem regarding email notification and such, but from time to time I'll register to a board or to a website where it says "if you're using hotmail..." asking for some setting to be done at least. PM sent, I'll pray it works afterall I don't want to register from another mail, that's the one I use for everything

What I was doing was clicking the boxes and then going to the drop down at the bottom thinking that merged it...it just kept spitting me back at the same point....so I thought it was broken without realising that what was broken was my process in the first place.....I missed the little click-on that said "click to add" right above the title of the movie...so as you see....it was just me not paying attention and rushing through like a bull in a China shop....oh yeah....I figured that you need to Merge Topics..not Merge Posts

My intention is to, when i have chance anyway, write some explainations of the new features (both for mods and for users). Somethings are different, some things are completely new

The picture flash I get is from the last post of any topic. So when I open a topic to look at the newest post since my last visit, it goes to them (or to the first page of the thread/topic, that still happens to me sometimes) and it flashes the last post very shortly before me.

I'm not getting any email notifications either. I checked "Notify me on private messages" and after I got one, I didn't get an email. I'm not on hotmail or anything related.

i just installed that mod, not wrote it. I'll have a look at sorting with titles in lowercase. The scarey thing to you is that is alphabetical to me too... i must be doing an array sort too

okay, i 'fixed' the mod so it will sort alphabetically (or unalphabetically for computer programmers ) I've sent out a mail to see if its arrived, i'm not sure if i can use an external smtp server with phpbb... it maybe too slow.

Reported the problem to MS who are investigating & sent me a book load of questions to fill in which I returned. They replied again acknowledging receipt of it & are continuing to investigate.

microsoft aren't the only people with blocklists mate, they are just the biggest cocks that do. Yahoo are sometimes as bad. This is why you often see bans on hotmail and free hosts banned from registrations. I've confirmed hotmail are blocking mails and i do not get them, gmail are not blocking mails and you get them. The ironic thing is that the hotmail address almost immediately received spam after i signed up but the legitimate mail did not come through

I remember a long time ago using outlook for email. This worked fine until I installed the office bit & that started blocking tons of shit & drove me nuts

its really n00bish of you to say. Read through the thread because I think you might be misunderstanding; they are just guessing and blocking ips. They will be incapable of getting every spammers ip just as they will be incapable of not blocking legitimate ips. It could be as simple of one douchebag subscribing to a site on this box and then clicking "report as spam". These blocks do not work very well, they are poorly compiled and hurt legitimate companies. Companies like microsoft have been bitterly criticised for this silly move and its harming legitimate sites and email users just as much as it is hurting the spammers. The spammers just hop to another smtp server that is insecure and continue to fire out spam completely uneffected, whilst the legitimate sites using their own smtp servers can't do shit. Take a look at how mickey mouse peerguardian blocklists are

Been doing some googling on the mail problem: 1) there's a suggestion that the ip is blocked 2) there's a suggestion that one of the headers is being stripped out causing it to be rejected
I've opened two incidents, one to confirm or deny if mails are being blocked and secondly to check the configuration of mail() and sendmail. At least we can find out if anyone else is experiencing the same problem.
