Mmm, installed RefControl, added imageshack, blocked it. Still I can't see the pictures, which was the problem I was referring to so I'm not sure which problem you solved doing this?

that's not a fix by any stretch but will get it back so you can relocate your images; its a hack to remove all referal data ;) I'd not recommend not turning that on globally as you'll find you get a lot of strange errors, missing images, etc. around the net.

Only real solution I have is to hammer their server, retrieve our content from them and relocate it to somewhere else (locally for example).

If you use imageshack for your signatures, please relocate them. I'll have to start deleting those that remain because they are but ugly (maybe its time to shrink them too )

bayimg reencodes PNGs into JPG. I tried it in the past, but the JPGs are not very high quality.

I mostly use jpg's anyway...I am just looking out for the unwritten rule that you have to at least post one breast shot from your rips when posting at the site  We got to be able to have at least our titties.

JPGs are ok, but bayimg compresses them a little too much for my taste.

good news; my mining script is almost done... bad news is... well it could be fun; its going to suck down a lot of mb from their servers (fuck those guys anyway ), its going to be pretty harsh on the database too... luckily the upgrade means its more capable, but its probably going to take a few runs.

I'm going to run some tests, so far its sucking the images down... i just need to make sure it replaces the text.

The ongoing DNS issue with lycos is kind of annoying, i need images.dead-donkey.com working really for this migration.

success!
The script seems to work :) I'll do some tests and possibly run against a few local copies to see if we get corruption.

I assume you are already limiting what the script hast to process by using an SQL like clause, right?

Whoa, that's way too many free image hosts. Now I don't know what to choose...

If the mining script works properly and you get the content to be stored locally, do I still need to relocate my sig pics?

http://www.turboimagehost.com/ is one I use when making a post with thumbnails for the caps, and they accept images in archives too.

i'm currently running a modified version of the script on the frontpage, it working well...

Please add a hosts file entry:
Code:
194.126.172.24 images.dead-donkey.com

When we get DNS back, the entry has already been added to the nameserver.

Here's an example of one that's been processed already:
