Well, if the spammer is human, what stops him from making one extra post in which he/she introduces him/herself? And then continue spamming?

Got a point there, but most seem pretty lazy and never return after the first (now) spam post. So maybe it could work

We've got this user "jecobmartin", is he a spambot? I think so, but I'm not 100% sure.

jesus, spamfest.

Okay I've now enabled dns spamcheck/blacklisting which unfortunately will do dns lookups before allowing posts.

The downside may be increased posting times.

How about

kimsmarkin memberlist.php?mode=viewprofile&u=16082

He looks genuine enough, but his syntax is off. Also, he has 5 posts, all made on one day in one subforum.

Another one which looks pretty real to me. But well, double dots on the end of each sentence and the nickname.

There's still humans, can't kill those guys... well I can, but then we'll no doubt have zombies.

Zombies... they creep me out.

What about this: everybody has to PM you before they can post. You have to filter out which ones are not spambots. That way only your PM box is spammed.
