NZB's

I can not stand torrents. To slow and a pain in the but with all that uploading and watching your ratio on sites and keeping a live archive to share with the net and stuff. Also the laws are changing in a hardcore way in Australia and it is just not safe to send data out in such a public way anymore.

The only problem with NZBs is that as far as I know there are no specialty sites that cater to more obscure types of data. I have yet to find a comic nzb site, or any film sites that released cool older stuff nor have a found a music archive site with classical music and / or a trance site.

I am sure they are out there but as yet I just haven't found them.

I haven't had emule installed in years and years... it is just to slow and as it is such a old network most of the files are to low quality to b bothered with.

I really think at this time usernet os the way to go.. if a few good specialty groups like shitbusters or cooldude started posting NZBs as well it would be a great start. The real problem with usernet is that it is mainly zero day... and scene related.. so most films are cut into 2cd versions for example.. though I only get 720p at a minimum now around 4 - 9 gigs a pop and they are always a single file. Downloading something like that in emule is not an option and HD torrents site you will be uploading files for a year or more before you send the data back.

What I would really like to see is a comic pack site lie comic-central.cc was... but usernet.... a few good music sites.. one for classical and one for trance/psytrance/goa etc and one for general.. rock, metal, all the other stuff and a Film site that posts more obscure films.

Anything uploaded to usernet hangs around for a long time... I have 800+ day retention on my provider... so a scene release would only need to re-release the file like once every 2 years or so. Still with an active forum people could request it if needed. I really do not understand why more "non-scene" groups are not using usernet.

lol, I guess you live in some kind of parallel bizarro world? QUALITY is the number 1 reason why my mule downloads so much. Let me see... where can you get torrents, DDLs or NZBs of quality releases like this one: viewtopic.php?f=8&t=21477

lol... releases like that are rare on mule... most are not... and that is two low rez for me.. I like 4-9 gig 720p mkv as a minimum.. I heard that mule is faster now.. but it would have to be super fast to leech those kinds of gigs....

HD is great, but there are literally thousands of great movies and series that exist only in standard definition. You don't want them?

Now I remember, you're the guy that likes Avatar!

It is VERY rare a "new" rip turns up on the net of something I haven't already got years ago.. I tend to only leech new stuff. There is the exception.. but they are very very rare. The lost room for example is new and on HD.

Yea.. just me and the other 3 billion people.

You think that saying I liked avatar is an insult but yo uare really insulting yourself. If you are unable to recognize avatar as a good movie.. regardless of if you personally found it to your taste it just shows how out of touch you are with the world around you. People who bitch about this film.. a film that is so loved it is STILL breaking every record in film history.. . and the blue-ray sales are still topping everything... so it isn't just the "fad of 3D" that made the box office huge.

Most people that hassle avatar sound just like my old grama bitching about how rock'n'roll isn't music.. .Well guess what it is music and great music.. she was just out of touch.. and unable to appreciate something due to her own prejudices and bias. So laugh and mock, w/e. You are only really making a fool of yourself, and when in 40 years they have the avatar trilogy being shown and ques around the block of people dressed in costume.. you "may" understand how you just totally missed the point.. totally missed that this is a ground breaking film that will influence cinema itself and creative people for decades to come.

You should listen to the new music grama.. you might like it.

Over the last 12 months...

Torrents 90% for xbox 360 games then I backed off on those since iXtreme LT was released so began renting/ripping myself. Torrent usage is now simply JTAG based XBLA games/Rock Band DLC... yes I have a JTAG. (google it). Still download the occasional film from 1 of the trackers.

Emule 10% for AFR xvid/ac3 films already posted as & when I catch up. Has to be said that we have the best rippers on the planet on this community, torrent rippers are arrogant arseholes who couldnt rip a piece of paper in half in 9/10 cases.

I get my music from both torrent/emule & split as above.

Hows it going fellas? its been a while :)

BTW: 3D is a fad that will die off faster than betamax (my opinion).

I'm 100% nzb atm, i go for 1080p films and 70p tv series and not much time for anything else atm.

Its mostly because of how painless sabnzbd is, its one of the most painless experience for acquiring content. I've got a sabnzbd plugin that just sends nzbs straight to another machine for downloading.

Just wish there was a sabnzbd for uploading.

I just visited some old sites and damn there's a lot of shitty horror films not posted on here these days; went to STF, fileheaven (I remembered my password, seems i'm still an admin!), and a few others. I cross posted a load of stuff from there.

I guess people just aren't using emule anymore. any ideas to spice up the site for the modern kiddies, let me know.

I've even been thinking about paying people to review films, write up articles, etc. I don't really have any cash and this site doesn't make any, so that kind of destroys that one; i just don't like to see something that's been around so long dissappear.

I recently wanted to cross post a bunch of movies but when going to the imageshack transload page I get the 403 forbidden :?

Maybe revive some action into the collection section? That way the single movies get posted in the normal section and in the collection section. Maybe get some new moderators for individual sections (set up a post asking for interested people tp help built up the community)? That kinda stuff, paying for that is no good IMO, we're pirates after all.

And I dont think people aren't using eMule anymore, it just seems most people only want to click and not post (its the same over at SBiG). Maybe a partnership with other fora, like in Dead Donkey for mainly horror, Sci-Fi for Science fiction, SBiG for bad movies, ... dunno, just thinking out loud. :)

We need Dxa back, or someone who will take over his collection job.

I crossposted from FH until I got married and everything, and since I came back I was planning on doing so, but I forgot. When I came back, I noticed there hasn't been posted a lot while I was away, not even trivial stuff. Dead Donkey needs to attract more people indeed, because while Pure says it is the same over at SBiG, at least that site has a ripgroup to back it up with fresh releases all the time, and thus generating more traffic, resulting in more posts (not necessarily better posts  ).

Well....

Anyone watching cinemageddon will know that Brannon ran off with the donations & dumped the site. ShadyGuy filled those boots & in 5 days managed to rack up 6 months of server costs via donations ($150 x 6 months: http://cinemageddon.org/forums.php?acti ... icid=25566) so torrents certainly seem to be the direction to go to fund the site.

This is the age of broadband, people have become very impatient & emule is dying as torrents are considerably faster.

If HHAH went down the torrent road we could piss all over the curent torrent sites simply because we have most of the best rippers on the planet.

Perhaps a short term experiment to test the water? I dont see how it could hurt although spud, I know this is your baby & you hate torrents, but how I see it.. nothing ventured nothing gained? If it fails then game over, but is it not worth a shot?

I'd need to move from VPS to server I think for a tracker, I'm not against it I just wouldn't use it.

ATM its too manual to upload to nzb, if there was something like sabnzbd for uploads, ie point it at a movie it zips, partitions, pars and uploads the whole thing then I'd upload all of the shit i've amassed to that.

its gone all 403 forbidden on me right now but was working earlier. I disabled the transload because it was how the site was 'hacked' a week or so back, there's some very poor code that didn't check file content.

Using ed2k and NZB mostly, so torrents wouldn't make a difference for me. :)
