Hi there, was thinking about the problem I was having at this thread and know of a small hack for phpbb that could improve this board.

It requires only minimal edits and no extra tables or anything in the database.

What it dose is put a link near the FAQ link on the header called "watched topics" It is simply a one page list of all the watched topics you have, you can then turn them off from that page as well.

There is another hacked called "Add Favourites list" that dose require a sql entry.

This one puts a link called favourites. So any topic you can click add to favourites and it will appear the list. (The only difference is that it needs a sql modification and the topics in favs do NOT email you.. if use the watched topics as a favourites the board will email on all replies)

@Spud Yo uare doing great and this is only a segestion, not a complaint or anything and if you decide you do not want it then who cares.

I'll look into it, although I'm not in favour of modding the sql database. Not because I believe I'll do anything long, its just the factor of future board upgrades.

The poblem also with mail notifications is that some people aren't putting in proper e-mail addresses so the mail is bouncing back into my account.

I'm currently working on two mods for phpbb, one for merging topics and one I'm making myself to customise data input (which will be used in conjunction with another mod).

The Favourites mod simply adds a new table, it dosn't alter any existing or add anything to any old tables. I do not think it would effect upgrades.

Dosn't the confirm account activation require a valid email?

yes, but most people are using spam accounts and letting them die.

I will test this "add to favourites" today maybe, on my local test server. If it passes the spud mallet test, I'll upload to the net version :)

It may not seem so, but they're all Africans.
