Some people displayed an annoyance at irc (and understandable so), so a webapplet has been set up for those that do not have a decent client or wish to faff around. It can be undocked and float around as if it were a msn chat or something.

Anyway, you'll need java installed:

No d0c just avoids any technology before 1990, if it was an IRC chat tool for the Sega Megadrive he'd be off

Works fort me and lets hope it gets more people in the channel!

When you first load up the applet it sets your IRC nick to web!

In the bottom right hand corner is a :

"Change Nick to" dialogue box enter in your text and press enter and it will change your nick in the channel!

Then you can type text in the white box on the left of the colour squares and it will appear in the channel :D

That was me

I've now got it working (thanks for the help d0c :beerchug: ) but it turned out the probs I was having was because I was running irc behind Sygate, it was having none of it. Anyone encountered this and know a better solution than what I am doing at present, running it behind Norton?

Btw same probs whether I use emule, mirc or the java applet.

@poly, you have got java right? Works fine here in ie, opera and mozilla. Providing you got java there's no reason why it won't load.

PC_Arcade, I've looked into this and web/java IRC clients must use the same port as the IRC server, so if you're work blocks it, like mine
Then you can't get on :?

I was semi hoping that you could connect to the java applet through Port 80 and then it would forward you on to the channel.

But they all connect you direct through the IRC port.

Never mind, no IRC at work

hmmm well I'm sure it can use a bit of port tunnelling. I'll read the pjIRC documentation when I get home, I didn't really have time to give it a proper read.
