*bump*

Views on torrent cams/ts/screeners?
I vote none what so ever in this new section. Kind of defeats the purpose.

I just spotted d0cs posted a DVDscreener and that's not really what I was hoping the section would be for.

Devil's Advocate mode.... *on*

-some DVDScr's do well at carrying over as archive files because of no watermarks, etc.
-would there be that many crap screeners posted?

I say just ban Doc instead

I'm not understanding why you don't want screeners there? What's the difference in having screeners for torrents or screeners for ed2k? Were you only hoping for dvdrips for that section then? :)

I got to say there's been some great discussion on the site today. Been trying to watch the 2nd half of nightwatch all afternoon but i always end up back here.

because screeners are by there very nature poorer quality, quick fixes before retail versions come out. The idea of the screener section is its crap and they'll be dead when the retail comes about. Only get them if you are willing to waste your bandwidth.

Well the idea was rare and quality rips. Retail and hard to get classics, the same emphasis we have on the other sections. The screener section is just a half way house to keep that crap out of the proper sections, for those that were around when it was made.

With preview material you have a choice, and if you choose crap, then its because your unwilling to wait. With vhsrips, its because you've really got no other choice, etc.

For those that understand how the 'scene' works, dvdscr are just preview material, they aren't well authored, they are infact meant for retail companies to decide whether or not to stock/distrubute the movie, nor are they meant to be alive when a retail rip comes along. They are meant for the people who can't be bothered waiting for a decent copy.

I mean black and white scenes and screener messages every 2 minutes? No screener torrents would be the ideal solution, just append them to an existing screener thread if someone has posted the ed2k, otherwise don't bother.

If its a clean dvdscreener or a workprint, maybe allow them, but otherwise I really would hate that kind of crap posted here, just for the sake of impatience for a decent verison.

I noticed many sites say "no movies that aren't available on dvd" or something, and in case your wondering, i don't give a crap about that, its more of "just wait five minutes for a decent copy, don't fill this site up with crap".

ps. and if you post a screener, its always a good idea to tell people how f*cked up it is (ie. b/w scenes, messages, watermarks, etc.)

So you don't want "dirty" screeners in that section then. Or both? I got no problem with what you said i just want to know your final rule is on them. I post a few screeners here and there(some dirty some not).

well i was wanting to know what everyone thought before I say any final rules. I'm saying that my personal preference is against screeners since its, as said impatience = poor quality. Of course people still want them which is why they are still posted I guess. I just don't think its fair on good stuff to be mixed in with the shit.

Perhaps a 'only post screeners with ed2k' might be the thing to do, that way, since the ed2k is therem they'll all be in the same section.

I'm just not a big fan of mixing stuff thats low quality because its all about getting it quickly and stuff thats low quality because theres no choice. I mean those zombie movies you posted deserve a lot more than being shoved in a section with whatever hollywood movie is pending a DVD release next week/month.

So speak up peeps else I end up just doing something

(yes, if there's anyone from fh.org, I was one of the people pushing for all crap to be moved out of low quality there)

I think anything should go in bt. For me bt is only an interim solution until the file is available in edonkey.

Hello. In light of recent events this place could do well to incorporate Torrent links. I find they're faster than Ed2k. At least for me. I'm not too picky though. :)

The rare horror/sci-fi stuff is never available on BT

So to me it doesn't matter

You can pm me the torrent. If I like the movie (no non-supernatural stuff, slasher, animal-horror) I will gladly share it on edonkey :-)
