Wish it wouldn't come to this.=(

But glad to see you're not in jail.=)

Hosting I offered at FH is getting scanned now, plus they are in the USA.

Maybe a Brazil or Korean Host is in order?
Seems the MPAA can't touch them.
/could be wrong.

I'll do a google, see what I can find.

Just a thought.

Could you keep the forums if the Linkage was redirected to a DB on a different server?

Perhaps we should distribute lists with ed2k links only in edonkey. Clear signed with a pgp key to make sure it is not a fake list. The public key can be distributen within this list. Only a few members here should have the private key to sign the new lists.

(or simmilar, I haven't bothered looking too hard)

Hide the links in a BMP :)
It's quick and easy, and you don't have to fire up emule to get the ed2k links ;)

Yes, but it would increase Spud's traffic tremendously.

Why not mask ed2k links? Ok, most of you don't like my idea to run freenet just for links, but do we really need clickable 'ed2k://xxxxx:xxxx'? For me xxxx:xxxxx would be sufficient. Even those could be masked xxxx:xxxx+1. ;-)

i was thnking about that idea too, what happens if links are not clickable anymore? just give the hashes or filenames? it would be the same, but maybe legally not and would at least get some more time...

greetz cyber

I don't think thats a solution, infact that may count against someone. Since your not doing anything wrong, encryption for this reason is illegal in the states at least, as well as other countries I'd imagine, so its like saying you are doing something wrong, which I don't think is the case. Does nothing but make it look dodgy.

As I've stated, if we have done something wrong, they need to tell us. We've received no complaints or anything, we just need a new host since station51 say they dont to host anyone not on their own dedicated server.

Which means we need to move someplace else.

Damn, so it looks like we need the removal men then LOL

Make sure my tea cups are packed properly, they get smashed and d0c will have to pay with a pound of flesh.

I hope encryption aint illegal in the UK, have been using encrypted mails and Messenegr for a while now.

Station51 has blocked all ed2k sites, and closed down the mainpage (in all its link less glory).

As far as I know, encryption is only illegal in the US right now, I believe the rest of the world can encrypt what they want.

About the MPAA war, I think this will be the final blow from them and every country in the world is hopping along with them. Some of the bigger sites (ShareReactor) were shut down too and they are hosting overhere in Holland. But the people of Brein (same sort of crap like MPAA) had to beg for help from the tax-services (FIOD-ECD) to get those sites down. Obviously overhere in Holland they used to big a force for something they don't even know how to proceed further.
And with the force that MPAA is raving round the world at this moment I dont think getting a new host at this time would be easy. This fart will blow over and I guess then you can get a host in Holland since I dont think Brein will win this war against ed2k since they have lost it before.

Maybe we should first find out a bit more about the situation and laws in different countries. Then looking for a host in a country, where ist seems to be safer than e.g. Britain.

Sweden seems to be all right in the moment. Read this ...

And I haven?t heard about any problems in East Europe so far. Hosts might even be cheaper there as in West Europe.

I really wish there was something I could have done but this time there just simply isnt. I've done my best to keep places safe and out of harms way over the past 2 years and now its getting messy.

its been a tremendous honor to have HHAH here on station51 and I'm going to certainly miss hosting it. I was very proud to have it here.

Thanks,
Bill
