As the topic suggests, the frontpage will eventually be replaced. Currently its phpnuke which although an okay solution was only ever meant as a stop gap until i had time to make one, which i've now started (although I'm juggling time between various little projects).
Ideas, designed, theme ideas (logos, colours, mockups, etc.), comments, features suggested are very welcome.

lol yes, seems no one has any ideas I realise most people on the forums don't use the frontpage often, at least in its current stage its only worth checking for older rips. However, its how the site started after all, and there's a lot of hits.
It also keeps the boards nice and clean, and is less hassle for browsing and viewing just movie links. I'm aware people don't care for forums at all.
Anyway, well so far i've been toying with horror movie news, dvd release dates, DVD details (ie cut status of editions) and movie reviews. I can't afford the bandwidth costs for things like dvd covers and subtitles, but there are plenty of sites for that, but that doesn't mean I can't integrate search to find the appropriate resources.
As for the news, well php can do amazing stuff these days, so using RSS feeds from other sites and getting news from around the place is a possability.
I notice i get reviews for movies submitted to the frontpage but no elink so seperating out the reviews so people can have a banter is a better idea. And then the elinks can access the database and recycle/list all the reviews.
Lots of stuff that can be done, just wondering if people had ideas and what not.
Of course elinks will be there, but its kind of like making a good site, with reviews and comments and what have you so people find a use and visit for the infromation as well as the links, hopefully.

Screenshots
Taking data from the current database - will stay up given there's several hundred edonkey links, filtered by score listing all movies:

A record in the old database:

A very old record in the old database:

New Link Section:

New Link Section - Sub Section:

Need to readup on writing the login / session bit. issues like user database will be solved, since i'm writing it myself, there's no problems taking the data from the forum database. You will notice eventually when we switch over that the top menu on the forums will also change.

another update, progressing very well.
There's a fully working login system now with admin, mod and user levels seperate from the boards, but the data is taken from the forum database. So you only register once as it should be. I wouldn't trust phpnuke with that given its riddled with flaws and exploits.

Another sneak peak of the movie section filled up with temp movies. You can order by the column headers:

I like the news section at the top of the forum, a good idea and very handy.

I second what MCMLXXXVIII said. Very handy for those of us that don't frequent the front page.
One minor glitch...
When viewing a topic index, using konqueror as my browser, the header looks like the screenshot below. Otherwise, it displays fine.
Don't mean to nitpick, just thought it was strange.
BTW, all is good when using firefox.

lol, another reason not to use that piece of shit browser methinks, works in opera, mozilla and ie.
I think we can safely say there's something fucked with that browser... for a start its not even using the right font. I thought it was based on ie, in that case update the browser I really hate these browsers that don't do what the html says.. you have to screw up the html compliance just to get them to friggin work... and for one some shit browser that has no right to existance?

Konqueror is a Linux/KDE browser so I doubt its based on ie.
Which is the correct font? The fact it's not using the right one might be the problem. I probably just don't have it installed.

http://forum.dead-donkey.com/templates/ ... rtDark.css
Make sure you go there and hit refresh.
Its Verdana, a standard font (and websafe as far as i know) on every os.
Code: | .content {BACKGROUND: none; COLOR: #DCDCDC; FONT-SIZE: 10px; FONT-FAMILY: Verdana, Helvetica} a.content,a.content:visited,a.content:active { color: #999999; text-decoration: none;} a.content:hover { color: #BCBCBC; text-decoration: underline;} .block-title {BACKGROUND: none; COLOR: #DCDCDC; FONT-SIZE: 11px; FONT-FAMILY: Verdana, Helvetica} |

Yes, it's still doing it. I installed the fonts from a windows box and did the things you mentioned above... guess it's my piece of shit browser.

Verdana is a standard font, it should always be on every os from traditional macs to windows 3.1. It might be ignoring the CSS file, but CSS is part of the HTML standard and has been for ages. I had a look, and there is a bit of code it could misinterpret (although it shouldn't), so i changed it from 300 to 33% and if its still doing it then i don't think there's anything i can do since its ignoring what i've written.

next time you want to search, can you have a little try of the frontpage search (just go to the frontpage and enter details into the box)?
Feedback welcomed.
