Some of ypu probably already know this was around but i didn't and i can't wait for it to drop the price. Now this is something i wouldn't mind playing my records on.

Some info from their site:
Quote:
Our motto is: "No Needle, No Wear ?." The LT features an absolutely contact-free optical pickup system. Play a record thousands of times with no damage to the record. Get the same sparkling sound on the thousandth play as on the first play.

Play and program your Laser Turntable like a CD player. Simply put the record in the front loading tray, sit back, and enjoy the performance. You can skip from track to track, fast-scan backward or forward, pause and hover, all by Remote Control.
...
Two beams read the stereo sound, two track the left and right shoulders of the groove, and one beam maintains the height and focus of playback head on any thickness record, and allowing for some warpage.
...

But the 'feeling' and dynamic sound of the vinyl will be gone, not?
You do mind playing your records on a real turntable?

"No needle velocity "rasp" or needle "scrape" sounds. (from their site)" So yeah i guess the good ol' sound won't be there. That sure is a shame for a lot of the older records we're i find them needle "scrape" sounds adds to the overal sound. About newer Metal etc. i wouldn't mind if the "scrapes" are missing there.

They also state on their website that:
"The LT reads only what the cutter put on the record. Cantilever resonance, moving coils and magnets, inertia and mass, and tone arm resonance all produce their own sound colorations. The LT has no coloration added and reproduction is the closest possible to the master tape"

So i guess that would mean that the produced sound would come the closest to the sound the band/producers had in mind.

@Pc_Arcade: I had something simular with my grannie. She saw me coming and going with a couple of record cases(the really old ones!!) and she said that she use to put records in there. What are you puttin' in it she asked me..Well grannie....records.

Hm well, i would just stick to my good old turntable. I don't have too much vinyl anyway, i prefer cd's for ease of use etc. and the horrible shipping price of vinyl.

I saw this turntable a few months ago, IIRC it sells for ?8000. I was interested until I saw the price. @PC_A, I bought the Lost Cherrees album on vinyl last week.

Yeah the costprice is a real bummer. I saw it for it think 7500 euro. Just have to wait for another company to addopt the idea.
The last record album i bought was M.O.D. : Rhythm of Fear
