No, given the pain in the ass 64bit support finding drivers and installing applications, i don't trust adoption of a "bit-player" os until full, single version retail. In other words, i doubt i'll install it until its a RC. |

you mean just normal shares? \\CompName\ShareName doesn't work? That's extrememly odd, that's a very, very old protocol, i can't believe they could possibly have been so incompetant to make default shares incompatible. Things like that, but mainly drivers, is why I always wait for RCs. The bugs and lack of hardware support just means its too much work. Apart from that, how does it perform/look? 64bit? |

More info about the smb share issue here I was more interested in the media center extender built into it for the 360 but it seems that feature is for our cross-atlantic chums only at the moment. Lemme know if you get samba working PC_Arcade. I might give it another go. BTW any "issues" with you 360 since the dash update? |

Bah! I agree it does have a nice gui but it seems desperatley complicated to get it to do stuff that was simple with xp. I hope they haven't spent more time working on the eye candy than the core systems. |

I'm not sure what OS to run next. I am still running XP with SP1, with all the added crap in SP2 I didn't trust it not to be calling home, turns out my suspicions were valid. If SP2 calls home then I reckon so will Vista. Linux and WINE anyone? I've used various flavours of Unix extensively so Linux should be no problem to me, but I want to be able to run Windoze software, hence WINE. |
