I myself dislike adding extra language tracks to a rip. But I'm not sure what to do with a directors commentary.
I can't see a reason not to add such an extra track as the second stream.
Anyone else having a meaning on this?

Well I'd ask please don't, or at least really consider the necessity of doing so, I rarely listen to extra tracks so its just a waste imo. Media Player Classic can play unmuxed audio tracks as if they were, and I will rarely mux in commentaries. The only time i would contemplate it was a track that is going to get listened to something like Kevin Smith or Terry Gilliam's tracks, and even then, it would have to be one of their good ones and be a brilliant movie for me to consider listening to it on a movie that I haven't bought.

There's been one time i've listened to an audio commentary on a rip, and that was for a movie i'll end up buying anyway, The Forbidden Zone.

But plenty of people do mux in dubs and commentaries.

I was hoping you would reply :)

Reason for asking, doing Bruiser atm and I think it can easily be done in a 1/6dvd size. But adding an extra commentary track would change that.
Then I would have to make it a 1/3 dvd sized rip. Which would have ac3 tracks of both streams instead of mp3.

Thanks, I'll go for the option not to include it and add it as an extra.

I wouldn't listen to that track, no, but then that's not to say someone else won't.

Decided to do 2 rips and look what looks best and release that one.
1st rip is 1/6 dvd + 1 mp3 track (commentary as seperate stream)
2nd rip is 1/3 dvd + 2 ac3 tracks (english+commentary)

It's good to have several pc's :P

can't you do a 1/3rd DVD with ONE AC3 track? ;)

(and the commentary as a 64Kb/s mono MP3 extra track if you have to)
AC3 for a crappy commentary track is way over the top, it just doesn't need it unless they burst into a song and musical number. It is just a guy sat talking into a microphone in pretty much every track

Seems you are in luck there :)
Forgot to add it in gknot. Could have done it afterwards but didn't want to bother with that.
The track is a bit higher than 64 since it also has the movie sound on the background.
As you can see, I went for the 2nd one. Looked somewhat better than the first one.

Yeah, but you can transcode it to make it 64. IMO if you're going to have a secondary commentary track, it should always be 64, as bitrate shouldn't be taken up by something only a select few will listen to. :)
