Well I am on a hunt for the best way to download and share my files. This search is endless. I think we all have gone threw finding programs loving it and finding something better.

Talk about past downloading programs Pros and Cons and also the ways you download now and what you use it for :beerchug: :beerchug:

Well, to be honest eDonkey was my favourite for a long time, before that was iMesh. Recently I switched to eMule, which I simply adore now. I seldom use torrents these days.

Once I got ADSL, tried torrents first, but rarely could I find all the shit I needed...

Thus Emule and the ed2k have been my primary use once I found HHAH.

Files are shared for long and you can find almost anything.

Used DC++ when I had ISDN :matrix:

I think I have tried them all now :eatthis: The best I have found for music is direct downloading from file hoasting sites. Its super fast but some sites make you wait 1 hour before DLing another file. No biggy its all free  I like eMule alot for movies and rare cd finds but what ever I do I cant get around the Fing firewall :matrix:

Anyone remember AudioGalaxy? The best had to be Napster, the good old days.

DC++ is for rent boys.

Pecking order for me is:
Newsgroups,
Emule,
Torrent

for new stuff, old stuff its just emule then torrent. And whilst i mention torrent i hardly ever use it because its a lot more line friendly to run emule + newsgroups at the same time.

That said, i've not been on emule for quite some time.

Here is a guide to Newsgroups, remebering you'll probably have to pay extra for a decent News Server:

The ironic thing is newsgroups are older than the WWW ;)

I remember Audiogalaxy, on a 64k/s ISDN. I thought Audiogalaxy was better than Napster, although Soulseek is better than both of them.

I loved Audiogalaxy, I was on it the night it went down! :o

The interface was wacky (searching on the site and downloading in a seperate program), but it worked and the choice was great. :)

I had too poor a connection (56k) in the Napster days to appreciate it fully, I remember marvelling at all the search results I'd get and wishing I could get an MP3 without waiting 2 hours for it...
