Can anyone advise me on a good program to use for writing subtitles srt files. Am completely new to it so any advice or names of programs to use would be helpful.

you write down the script in notepad, then you load it in aegisub (or other softw of your choice, but I like aegisub best), load in your film & its audio, & start timing your script to the movie/audio.When you're done, you can use the softw to typeset it as well, should you want that.

ps: its not something you learn in an hour
