If you've got a FW modified 360, it might be worth staying off life for a while, Microsoft have started banning accounts left right and centre :)

Hopefully there'll be a fix / workaround, but be prepared to lose that live account!

Mine's not banned (yet?), it looks as though if you flashed before the spring update, and haven't flashed since you're ok :)

If i liked a single online xbox360 game i'd be pissed about now

Sucks they are banning people though. where is the real mod? Its like everyone stopped and settled on the firmware hack rather than develop a proper solution.... is there still very little on that front?

That's a bastard, Microsoft pay for delivery both ways, and have extended the warranty to 3years due to genereal unreliability of the 360

I've seen the red ring twice before... but a power off/on and it was working fine again. Is there another reason for the red rings besides death?

Depends on what the rings are, upper right quadrant off, the rest on = death

the others denote other problems

The most common red ring, beyond spicy curries, is 'popped' transisters where the 360 has overheated.

No amount of turning off and on again fixes that, its a hardware defect microsoft have finally (!!!) acknowledged.

The fault my wii has is established, even if they are reluctant to admit it, but the not covering postage is a f^cking disgrace.

 I sent my box back with a modded f/w as I couldn't be bothered to unmod it.

And very kindly Microsoft fixed it, and returned it to me, still chipped

Cheers M$ :beerchug:

Red Rings also come from the AV cables they said, mine died about 6 months ago, and hasn't died again, thank god, even when everybody's was toasting their's because of Bioshcok. Which is the funniest 360 I've enjoyed. Microsoft paid for mine both ways, even though I paid for that extra year, granted mine was a 2006 model and not 2005. Well at least I have to 2009 to blow it up again :eatthis:

Yes, most people got it home (or downloaded I guess) and found out they couldn't play it :matrix: Shit the only thing I can play is maybe SimCity :P
But, after playing BioShock (on a 5 day rental period) I beat twice without killing the girls and my machine was so hot, it was on fire.

I have no regrets on buying the 360 even though I have to worry about it blowing up, 'cause I have no idea if it's got the new chipset/design architecture in it or not, see that's what pisses me off (granted i've ony got the CORE part and upgraded, no chance me hacking it, I would brick it) is since this newly discovered flaw, new my ass, they should let you upgrade to the next, or were gonna start over again with the Red Rings. Sony has the same issues, they said they have less than 5% return issue, considering the other 90% are still on store shelves. (not to mention they offered up 2 more models) and I'm way off topic :jesus:

Oh I also forgot, guess I need to go pick up my "orange box" :)

There any decent games on the xbox360 yet, i've contemplated buying one at several points in time but its the same problem... nothing i want to play.

Stuff like bioshock i play the better PC versions, so that means its exclusives only... Dead Rising was one that looked fun but its just not a system seller. GTA IV will be on pc and its delayed, mass effect = pc, halo 3 = utter shite...

Any decent games looming?

Well, I try to convince you to come to the "darkside" :)

Well, I'm no reviewer at GameSpot, some off the games on my list are surely not worthy to them. Still for playability, San Adreas is just utter fun, as for my side of things, I'm a console gamer only, there was a time when my system was new and could play Mafia, and a few more alright, nothing to brag about, so I just started playing Playstation and such forth, owned an xbox, then dishoned it because of the lack of games which is now owned by Sony. I decided to take a huge jump from being a ps fanboy to this now. Wow the 360 is amazing, and I don't even own a High Def TV :)

My great titles so far.

Upcoming Resident Evil 5, Fable 2, boderlands (seriously check out this title PS3, Xbox 360, PC, but looks like Mad Max, very cool indeed, GameInformer had a editorial up on it), Need for Speed Series (all of them I like), Gears Of War 2, Ninja Gaiden 2 & Devil May Cry 4 (not a huge fan of DMC), and like you said Mass Effect but I thought it was 360 title only (maybe a delay here), I also like the looks of GTA IV, but you cannot forget about Assasin's Creed, no doubt you can get all this on PS3 I think, but this xbox thing is making PS3 look not innovative, my personal view.

Games, F.E.A.R. and the sequel F.E.A.R.: The Perseus Mandate, also Gears Of War, game of the year and blows the shit out everything and anything, but coming to PC right? Rare's Perfect Dark, The Darkness (mark of the beast going on here) upcoming Army Of Two (you see the teaser over at youtube :) ), I like the baseball games MLB 2K7 and the NBA 2k8, Condemned (a cop being tracked by serial killers), Dead Rising was fun, Far Cry, Fight Night Round 3 (holy shit it's so real), Forza Motorsport 2 (best racing sim I've ever played), Lost Planet (super Sci-Fi here), OverLord (pure evil ), Prey (another SciFi flickage), saints row (not so much of GTA knockoff now huh? ), Splinter Cell Double Agent, and one here for giggles Call Of Cthulu for it, but it's xbox title playable on the 360 still fun, my game list came from my harddrive will all my "Game Cheats, and Game Guides are, normally I keep anything, weapon faqs, etc.

oh yes, do not for about GameFaqs.com either, it holds some great guides and cheats for free :)

Oh, and yes I did play Halo 3 and did beat it and was 75/25 on it. You can just till there milking the story with him
Spoiler:
he's not dead
to it and getting mroe out of the franchise. But, BioShcok is the game that really shines for the system. It's just plain fun. I think PS3 doesn't stand a chance in me buying it :beerchug: At least, I would buy it for this game "LittleBigPlanet" looks very fun :D But, more importantly I should learn not to start drinking while posting, one other thing, And to answer you question is there any good games, yes for all or none of those reasons you should get you a "box" you shouldn't regret it

Just to clear a couple of things in your posts Sons :

AV cables don't cause the 3rrod problems, shoddy heat sink design does.

You can firmware modify any 360 and you won't brick it ;) It's REALLY simple nowadays

Customer service on the line said the red rings are caused by AV cables sometimes, well, this was when I called the first time, they said it was the AV cables. I bought new av cables and it didn't work, and so I called back the second time and they finally said it was it need of repair, wonder if I just got the run around, and this even happened after a firmware update, maybe this guy was right Image
