I personally loved Halo 2 but then I'm into FPS. |
Actually, the reason why i find Halo so poor is because I'm into FPS. I thought it was pretty piss poor, vastly over rated and provided absolutely nothing new to me as an experience gamer; there was little value to it. The hype and the downright ignorance of console drones then took me from "meh" to being kind of pissed off and insulted. I am a pc gamer, used to be big time pc gamer; halo had been done before it even came out so it was quite confusing to see the hype and the review scores; its still baffling to see something that's a 6 or 7
at best be given a status of Duke3d, Quake, Half-life (one or two), dark forces 2: jedi knight, system shock, dues ex, etc. It still baffles me.
Halo has mediocre ai, poor controls, terrible story and bland environments and level design. And yet a plethora of people claim its the bestest everest at everything, which just reveals itself as amusing the more you quiz them about other fps games. The done to death scifi style doesn't do it any favours on the last two points though.
I can understand people liking it even if I don't, I can understand them playing and the appeal of the network gaming to console players (and why it will probably be popular on xbox live).... i just can't understand why it gets so overrated, gets these exaggerated claims of innovation and i sure as hell can't fathom where "best game ever" comes from, when its not even close to being the best fps game.
Its even worse on the PC than it is on the console; the slow clumbersome style is understandable for a console, and there's nothing you can really do than dumb down the controls, remove the accuracy/pump up the aim assist and slow everything right down to snails pace, but on a pc its just even more fustrating and there's any number of fps out every other minute that seem to just show the game up as nothing special.
I fear i may end up trolling if i continue in this thread, so i'll stop at the complete confusion and amusement at the halo franchise.
ps. i assume you mean halo 2 on vista, since halo 3 is 360 only for a couple of years.
