Has anybody else noticed that saving an audio stream or appending a file takes shitloads longer in Vista than on XP?

for example:

Stripping an audio off an avi in XP takes an average of about 20-30secs. In vista it takes 140-210secs.
Appending segment takes around 1 min in XP & takes around 5-15mins in Vista.

OS & PC Specs:

1. Windows XP x64bit (Athlon x24200, 2gb DDR800)
2. Windows Vista Ultimate x64bit (Athlon x26400, 4gb DDR2 800)

Is it just me? Any idea why it does this?

virtualdub is a pretty old unoptimised and shitty app.

Are you using basic VirtualDub or are you using the mod and nandub? There's no reason to use basic anymore.

Not installed it on any of my vista boxes, i'll see if i can get round to it.

btw, there's an athlon build of most of the dubs since its optimised for intel ;)

Well Avery added the feature that you can now cut at any frame not only key frames and VDub only re-compresses the ones needed while in "Smart Rendering" mode. It's useful when cutting out advertisements.

I use virtual dub mod 1.5.10.2 & I've never used nandub that I can remember.
