i only bought a sample pack, the cost and effort of returning them will be more than the cost of the sample pack.
They don't appear faulty, they just have 1mb less capacity than the iso, they are reported as blank and seem to read fine by my pioneer.
I only have a DRE on PoP2 now, and I'm going to just burn that at 4x and see if it fixes.
Both Mario Tennis and Metriod 2 work dandy

No more PSO + BBA for me
Just got AR replay working, no need for all those cables etc AND I can take my GC further away from the PC and put it back where it was before

how much did that set you back though?
I wish there was a way just to boot from a memory card... I have a usb one so can put files on it via that.

Don't use FSTfix on a 1.35gb image unless you need to sort the streaming audio, and then only use the sound option.

Quote: | Thank you for your email. We have not had any bad batches of mini DVD-Rs that we are aware of. The Datawrite can have a size of 1.392 or 1.400GB (specified in "extra info"), the Hyundai are 1.395. As far as I am aware there is no size that they "should be", these are the sizes that the manufacturers make them. I hope this helps. Best Regards, Tim |
seems they're meant to be shit
That's quite cheap for an action replay, but I have to ask myself, do I really want to spend more on the gamecube?

Yeah, I considered that, but I'd never be able to upgrade GCOS (etc) then
Looks like DRE's will be a thing of the past soon if Cobra Bios's developers are to be believed

True, didn't think of that.
You'll have to wait for them to crack it again though, I bet Mentalcube won't be making the same mistakes again, Utopia said they wouldn't have been able to do it if it hadn't been for flaws by Mentalcube in their protection.

shitty disc, its right on the end bit, so it must be a read error.
I ordered some different discs.
@PCA, official? damn, well I got a 64mb usb one with all the snizzle backed up on my pc anyways
I had a shitty one that kept corrupting when I copied stuff across the bband, this one doesn't do this Plus its 64mb and I can back shit up

The 64Mb one should be even better, the reason you need an official card is that ctr-gts is very pick about what card it will and wont write to, you can skip that whole step and just write directly to the card using the PC.

excellent, excellent
I completed RE4, would have done much earlier if it wasn't for all these DRE. I got a bit worried when I thought it was going to turn out to be samey, but they spiced the gameplay up a lot and I was impressed by a lot of the environments. Just as always too short... there sure as hell is going to be a RE5.
Anyway you seen anywhere that sells mini dvd +r? They are apparantly recommend by most of the modding and ripping people, but I've yet to find a single store in the uk that sells them

AFAIK, they don't exist. When they say DVD+R on those sites, they're talking about fullsize.

Whats the outcome of all this?
Is it possible to mod the cube without a chip yet, using only an AR and required files?

Yeah, although you either need someone to put the files on your memory card using PSO and the BBA or you need PSO and the BBA to put them on youself.
If you're in the UK I'm happy to put the files on the MC (has to be an official one) for you
