Which is becoming more frequent these days though lol I'm worried about GTA IV after that thread in smalltalk, but reading reviews and watching videos no one mentions the 'scores' of bugs; in fact its only way some one mentions cracking that bugs crop up. Rockstar probably should have put out a demo to prove it either way.

A little update: I went for the PC with the specs I posted in the first page, with a little more than four megs of ram. So, I'm only waiting for a decent cracked GTA IV.

a shitty arcade beat em up huh? That was low resolution FMV sprites (ie. pre-recorded fmv) and 2d environments, essentially vector graphics. There wasn't anything impressive about that title when they didn't push any polygons in a 3d era! PC was way, way, way ahead of it in 1995. Hell Myst game out in 1995 if you want fake pre-rendered scenes... was years before that got ported, at lower res mind you In terms of technical achievement, look at what you are comparing: Google top hit for pc 1995: http://games.toptenreviews.com/list_ranking_pc_1995.htmor did you just go out of your way to find a game that was unmarketable to a pc audience? sports games and arcade games? bah! sneaky bugger

I have my new PC, it had windows xp 64 preinstalled and it was tricky to install all the stuff I normally use because it was "too old" or not "compatible".
Is there a SP3 for win xp 64?

why win xp x64 and not vista x64? Vista is more stable with better driver support in its x64 product i've found.
Is upgrading it to vista x64 not feasible?

I found it highly entertaining. Although it had no finishing moves, I liked the fact to control the real actors from the movie. spudthedestroyer wrote: | or did you just go out of your way to find a game that was unmarketable to a pc audience? sports games and arcade games? |
Thinking back a bit I can remember Pro Evolution Soccer for console that looked amazing and wasn't released for PC in its early stages. These kind of games made consoles look way more advanced to me. Seems like it was misjudgment.

Next release will be: La Cité Des Entfants Perdu (1995) + Making Of (Status: working on the subtitles) Last release was: Svengali (1931)

Well, it came preinstalled so I gave it a go. So far everything is working fine. And of course I've heard so much shit about Vista already... I was playing a little bit of Spore, and is running pretty good. Silly game tho.

aah, actually football games are a good (ish) example, Fifa on the PC is always ported from the PS2 version not the 360 / ps2 versions (god knows why, EA are mental)

they have football on computers? how quaint! Takes me back to when i programmed a robocup football team for my Ai project at uni. It was about Me -> 49 - 0 <- "The Losers" if i recall correctly. Was always fun loading up my beta algorithm at the same time as someone was loading their's, and watching them get utterly destroyed.

So i went back to the uk and played on my circa 2008 water cooled pc; this is a non-SLI, Intel Quad Core. I had some problems with dust due to it not being used for a long time, so cleared the cmos, resunk the ram and the graphics card with a quick 'dust clean'.
It played: shogun 2 total war portal 2 crysis 2
I'd like to call out right now anyone who uses: * oh you have to keep upgrading * oh the hardware fails * any other maintenance related bullshit
as an argument against PCs. Its simply not true. Games like Call of Duty use tricks to make it look better but these are exposed as cheap smoke and mirrors when you look at it on a high quality display and at high resolutions (I game above 1080p usually).
On the flipside, i'm pretty underwhelming at this generation's games progress. PC games have always been leaps and bounds superior, but this generation, primarily due to lies about profits and piracy and secondary the cash-cow that is developing for consoles, combined with the higher costs for making games, it seems PC is getting shunned. However, I know there's huge discontent amongst developers about limitations being imposed by reaching the top of ps3/xbox360; several companies are also rebelling against API and pipelines like directX... these artificially limit what you can achieve but at the same time make it easier to hit the ground running.
On a comment I made on this thread, I actually bought a 360, and Fable 2 is really shit in my opinion, I'm rather angry about it... I never play on my xbox360 and its sat unplugged and unplayed for a year. Fable 2 was so underwhelming, I don't intend to buy fable 3 even though it is actually coming out on the PC

There is some good development of free & indy games on PC recent years: Tricky Truck Toribash Trials 2
They don't feature mega-graphics, but they play damned nice and above all, don't treat the player as a 4-year old child who's fully developing it's motoric skills. (I mean the fact that in the end you always win, or find out how to always win) Where are those games that lasted 30 seconds but left you sweating on your chair with blares on your hands from beating on that crappy C64 joystick!
