I have a 19" Samsung for the moment
but I'm thinking seriously to buy a new one, I was thinking buying a 24"

but after a little inquiry, it seems more complicated than I thought

main purposes: surfing, working (programmation)
and mainly movies watching, divx most and some dvd's

24" screens have 1900*1200 (16/10)
but there are beginning to be available also 1900*1085 (16/9),
somebody have experience with this size of screens, which one would be better?

also I have read today the main monitor technology used is called TN
which seems more fit for gaming than movies watching,
it seems the more interesting kind of monitor technology for movies is MVA,
somebody has some point of view about that?

thanks

Most of todays computer monitors are TN panels. They are a do it all type of monitor and until recently were not recommended for gaming. The surge in TN panels is simply a matter or cost, as they are the cheapest to produce. They work well for movies.

As to the resolution differences, you would be well suited with either one.

Thanks for that link. I had no idea about the different technologies involved
with LCD monitors. I just spent 30 minutes reading up in it. Nice site.

It's handy to have two monitors when it comes to programming. I know that it's not something you would need for watching movies. But since that was the third on your list - you might consider the option.

Not only with programming, there are numerous advantages having a dual screen setup. I'm using dual screens since a year of 8/9 and no way i'm going back to one.

I find it difficult to work without two monitors most of the time. :)
