Only if you compare top end against top end, and you've got a couple of hundred dollars price difference ;)

Price brackets are rather different, AMD is 'cheap', Intel is better.

Its been fine for me, gnome is a bit... bland.

KDE 4.2.2 is out btw, was released this month.

Well, if I think about it Ubuntu sucks! It's so retarded that copying a 1 CD rip (700 MB) to a pen-drive takes over 1 hour. :outsider:
They should have noticed and fixed this by now. But ... nope! I am currently searching for a Linux distribution without this major flaw.

My everyday desktop OS is Windows, but I've never had this problem using Ubuntu.

I have this problem too. Copying big files to removable media connected via USB is bugged. :(

i'll try, but its not a use case i come across often. Although these days I am using a cheap-o standalone and playing films off of usb in malaga.


I was going to put fedora on but I don't know if i can be arsed with red hat variants.

If you like KDE, you could also try openSUSE.

@Ubuntu USB problem: looks like the problem is still there in 9.10 :suicide:
