If you have HDMI output on you gfx card then a TV should be ok, but I wouldn't use VGA, its bad for the TV screen (from personal experience). I never used DVI, so can't comment. I'd say get a larger quality monitor with whatever input you need, few have HDMI but you can use DVI-to-VGA piece or similiar. I use a flatscreen Dell thats got a great picture and no bleed or burn in problems.

The edges of the screen will seem to be lighter, yes, but if its distractingly so then something is wrong.

How do you have it hooked up? (video card output/cable type/input type? also screen settings like resolution would help)

well if you have tried multiple monitors and replaced cable, are using the correct resolution... then the gfx card's dvi maybe? Did you try its vga into the monitor? Is it bleeding from a possession? Might need an exorcist. :watchingyou:

Every single dell i've had has had 'issues'. They are fantastic panels, don't get me wrong, but I've had issues with black colours (I'm sorry, i'm yet to see a LCD that can do black), a couple of dead pixels (low failure rate), and on my big widescreen dell back in the uk, if you look at it from the bottom right, you can see some weird black line in the very top left. you can't see it, but if i lay in my bed and watch a FS movie you can see it, sitting at my pc or watching ws and you can't.

I don't think its possible to find a perfect panel.

So I like Dell's but everyone one i've had has had an 'issue', I have a cheapish llyama and at the moment i've not noticed a problem with it, but it doesn't get the beating i give my dells.

I use Dell E196FP, it does black really well, no issues with it ever. I HATE Dell, but the monitor is good. Its not widescreen though.

No such thing as a flawless lcd.

Bleeding, banding, non-uniformity, naff colors , blend blacks, buzzing ....there's always something.

Especially under $ 300.

And don't blame dell. They just stamp their name on a aquired panel. (often samsung, lg, philips)
Find out what panel is inside your future lcd. And how it fares.
Takes some serious digging & dedicated time .

For starters go there.

If money is no problem then go for a Eizo professional series.
As close as perfect a LCD gets right now.
