I was just wondering... am I the only Mac user at HHAH?

Please don't use this as an excuse to shit on Macs, as I was just wondering. If you want to join in the Mac vs PC debate go look in a Mac forum... :)

I build all mine so no..I don't use mac...not there is anything wrong with them, I just know this system better...would be interesting to put one together though :beerchug: I used to use apple in High School when they were teaching programming....not that i remember a damned thing of it now :mrgreen: This was in 85 so...a long time has passed since then :D

i have nothing against mac, its great to have other system than intel and m$ here in hhah...i have worked with mac and amiga computers before, they both have great ose's. but now i use a pc, one day i gonna buy the new amiga, when they get the new os finished and the hardware with the cpu i want... then its all amiga again. they are working on a emule for the new amiga also... :mrgreen:

This is a bit of a narrow-minded attitude Spud, Mac's can do a lot more than Photoshop and Cubase...

can u play prince of persia, no? screw that shit, it's like linux. Oh you can do so much with it. Sure, can you play GTA? no. So what can you do that I might actually need? Nothing, or hardly anything in regards to what a home user would want/need. Sure great up times, etc. not in dispute. But seriously, I'd like to at least do stuff I want. I have used Macs and I do use linux.

I have absolutely no need for a mac, as I said I don't use graphics packages and I don't make music and therefore I have no need for one, that's all I'd ever need buy one for.

Ok name some stuff that I'd be interested in or actually need? Mac are primarily used in industry for graphics and sound. That's what it's best at. Deal with it, it's a fact ;)

PC is definitely more versatile. But if I want to play games I play Gamecube.

Well I can't agree with that at all. You need to play some pc games, gamecube games don't cut it, they are crap next to PC games (i do own both ;) ). PC has always been the best gaming platform, I'd never get rid of that in favour of a console. You know I love nintendo, but the PC has always been a better platform.

Sure you can encode stuff slightly faster (like i said people buy macs for sound and graphics - still and video are graphics ;)), just like you can on linux (i'd go for linux over mac too - waiting to set a box up over xmas). But I mean you can encode stuff on windows. The problem here is that with a mac you can't do lots of stuff you can on windows.

The only motivation I see for getting a mac is music and graphics/vid. I don't do music and I don't do video on anyscale to justify it, and imo, that's the major + Macs hold (hell that's why everyone i know owns them and I've used them). It's not narrow minded at all, it's the truth.

Have to agree with Spud here, and I acctually do a little
video-editing. But still don't see any need for a mac.
But if anyone likes the mac that's their problem :)

To me mac-users come off a little like those "laserdisk is so much better than dvd"-guys.. :roll:

not that i want to sound like the voice of reason,
but have any of you used a mac before saying how shit they are?
maybe mac guy stole his from his employment place and it was the only kind he could get, and uses it for his own private work.
ive always heard good things about mac graphics. i dont know, ive never actually seen a mac anywhere. i dont know anybody who uses them nor anyplace within at least a 4 hour drive to buy one.
