Hi All,

An amazingly useful tool for copying large/many files between drives or partitions:

BurstCopy v2.650 + Keygen [KLUSEK].rar

More info here

Cheers,
Bishop

Plus there's a fix implemented in the new version (the application wasn't working properly on some machines), which can be installed over the previous one:

hxxp://files.burstcopy.com/burstcopy_setup_beta.exe

Using the DMA mode in the proper way, which Windows obviously cannot do, it is able to copy/move a 700mb file in less than 30 seconds on my machine (I have ATA 100 hdd)! And it's as easy to use as the regular copy option, since it integrates into the shell (context menu), so it supports drag&drop.

Well, mine doesn't. Then try it and see if there's any difference. My case is no. 2 on the speed comparison chart on their page. And, surprise surprise, all the benchmarks you'll find on the net will show you similar results.

Believe me, it makes a difference if you want to copy more files.

well, it makes sum changes on my old IBM 40Gb.
but nothing with WD 800BB (8Mb cash), where i keep all movies.

btw, for copy from CD's i use Frigate (file manger) it's 70-80% faster than copy from CD with WinXP. on my system of course.

I am using Barracuda IV 60 GB and WD 120 GB 8 MB cache and it sure helps a lot. Reduces the copying time to less than 40%. @Ohgod, I hate all the tools that are supposed to speed up the overall performance of your system or internet browser, but this one is different. It's a simple program that just copies the files the way windows should.

@PrayeR, that Frigate sounds interesting. Do you have any verified eD links to post here? From the screenshots I've seen on the net it's like an enhanced Windows Commander?

Works good here, was taking around 2 minutes to transfer a 700meg avi from one drive to the other, now taking around 1 minute.
