This is a different type of dvd-copy prog, that evidently is much better qualitywise that any of the others. That's because it uses the CCE reencoder, and not the transcoders that all the others do.

Read more about what that means here:

Download and get help here:

Now it's a bit of a bitch to set up, and install correctly, but once that's done, it's fairly easy, 1 click does it all.

The negative side is that you can only choose to remove extra audio, so if you want to remove other stuff, you'll have to use another prog like DVDshrink, remove everything you don't want and select 'no compression' first.

These are some tests another person made:

Dvdshrink

CCE - 2pass

CCE - 4pass

I have just used this prog to copy 'Raiders of the lost Ark' myself, with great results. I can post some screens if wanted.

hmmmmmm I'll give this a go..

Remenber a easy way to select wat you want to use is DVDshrink....

open DVD, hit reauther, select the streams you want for ausio and subtitles, menus or not etc etc...

Then make all the settings set to "no compresson" this is like sirect stream copy and should rip it to Hdrive with 0 loss of quality.

why not? CCE is a brilliant, if very compilcated MPEG encoder. You get the better results by using CCE, or even TMPGenc that using an all in one program.

DVD rebuilder looks to sit on top of one of these, so undoubtedly, it will have far superior quality. Unfortunately, I suspect it will take hours longer of course.

4 passes... I think it would take a while... but dose time really matter.. if you have your system on 24/7 anyway... all you need is the sapce and the program to be able to run in backgrnd.

I'd go for quality over time.... but I do take easy of use over quality.

Yes, yes it does! I have over nearly 200GB of DVD9s on my hdd... time is a very, very, very, important factor. I need to get these discs off my hard drives as fast as possible and in the best quality possible as i have a long list of DVDs i need to put back on and put to DVDr :o

CCE might not be worth it for me, except for very difficult discs. Intervideo DVDCopy2 is what I'm using, very fast and the quality is far superior to that of the other all in ones (see the other thread), although John_Doe seemed to have a problem with the disc he did with it. I haven't experienced that yet, luckily :) Quality will be better in CCE simply because of the number of passes it will do. It's like encoding an SVCD, if you spend enough time on it you'll get a quality result. Except, of course to counter SVCD, mpeg4 is better quality and faster. Just a shame there's no quality beater for it :(

Spud: It really didn't take THAT long to copy it. I didn't time it, but I think it was below 1 hour. Of course, that is without burning it, which you have to do with nero afterwards.

OHGOD: Sure, I can give you a few screens of the original, and the cce encoded one of 'Raiders of the Lost Ark'. But I'll need a few pin-pointers on how to go about. How do I take a screen of a dvd, showing the real quality, not just 'what you see'? And how can I jump to the exact same frame later on to take the same screenshot on the other version?

Try and find a dark scene with a lot of smoke in it ... smoke due to the colour gradient over a flat colour like black will show up the encode real clear. Or a bit of vid where there is a lot of line lines. Mabey a shot of the whispy ghosts at the end of raiders?

Spud I have been using the Pinical Insta Copy app you put me onto... But I think that the next one I do I'll use Johns advice.

ok jynks, but I still need a few hints on HOW to take these shots?
Previously I've used WinDvd which has a 'take screenshot' option, but I'm not sure if this is the actual size and quality of the source, or if it's tampered with. I'm also not sure how to jupt to a specific frame, so that I can take the exact same screen twice.

I'd load it up in vdubMOD.

Just decrypt the original load the vob and pick the frame and print screen it.
Then do the same to the version you encoded (tell us the pass's you used)

I do not know how you can give us the other examples, dvdshrink and 2 pass cce etc..... you could use dvdshrink to build a dvd with a tiny segment of video and audio, but as the cce app and dvdshrink would not need to compress the viideo to fit the results will not be right unless you re-encode from the original disk the ENTIRE movie for each method...

I'd be interested DVDshrink vs Pinical Insta Copy vs DVD Rebuilder 2 pass vs DVD Rebuilder 4 pass vs XviD vs DviX vs Original (I know you prob will not do that but hey would be cool ; )

PS if you can remeber try to record the times it took to encode and system specs.

Can anyone put screens of there settings or write them out for me...

I am having a real trial tryingto get this app working and from the screens in this thread I think it would be a great idea to do that.

Just need to know the setup I think.... and mabey the version of cce you are using.

what exactly are you having problems with? It was indeed a puzzle to set up... =(

I'm using CCE SP.
But you have to also 'crack' it with that EclCCE thingy.
