open the .pk4 files in winrar (you will find pak001,2,3 and 4 in the base folder c:/programfiles/doom3/base). Open them in winrar and start to extract all the files to your base folder so you get a base folder with lots of files and folders. if there is some clones just replace them.

one tips could be to extract the files in the .pk4 files to a temp folder and then move the files and folders to the base folder when you are finished.

when this is done with all the .pk4 files, start up doom3 and get ready to double your fps it works realy great.

i did this and i now have 40-60fps all the time with this system:

intel p4 NW 2.0ghz
512mb ddram (pc2700)
radeon 9700 non-pro 128mb

enjoy

haven't tried it, but makes sense.

did anyone confirm this working? And are you supposed to delete the .pk4 files afterwards?

i tried this ... I didn't notice too much of a difference but I didn't do much of a comparison either. Yes you can (and probably should) delete the .pk4 files.
