OK guys, what AV you use and why?

I feel a change is needed as AVG free edition is getting old now and will soon not be supported.

I'm pretty satisfied with BitDefender Professional, recomended by Spud. There are a few silly flaws in it, but it's detection is pretty good, so I guess that's all that matters. It's not as 'lite' as AVG, nor not as heavy as Norton.

I still use AVG but heres some I?v used also with no problems.. AVG has just been the best... and just the v6 discontinues... they have new free AV ready to be released...

AntiVir lite and OK.
Avast nice looking, has some advanced features like P2P scanning etc... OK AV also...

...but I?m still holding on to AVG

I just grabbed a copy of AVG 7, so far so good.

I have noted your other recommendations tho cos AVG 7 tends to get disabled pretty quick.

I like Mcafee Virusscan Enterprise.

Silent and stays in the background as long as you disable a lot of the options. You can just Scan On-Demand and it's good.

No false positives from Ad-Aware either.

I never used Symantec though, so....I guess whatever tickles your pickle.

Panda Titanium

Better than Norton & Mcafee. AVG free is ok.

dont know where you are, but can buy nearly all of the avs for a little of nothing in the US on the net. Froogle which ever and choose where you want to buy it. Most websites will have each listed multiple times under multiple prices, just have to look.

These sites sale the copies that are suppose to be given to new computer purchasers. They are real and they have the one year av updates. I bought 2 copies of Panda Titanium for $8 plus a couple more for shipping

that's shit software imo. I've tried to use it many times but its really poorly made and uses so much resources and is very, very slow.

I'd recommend against Kapersky, even if it does win these so called tests. I'm using Bitdefender Pro.

well i'd rate it as unusably slow, and unusably unstable ;)

I think its meant for pcs you don't intend to use.
Bitdefender is better than Norton, pc-cillin, and AV and those are the only ones I'd really bother with... they do the job without too much trouble.

Kaspersky is supposed to be good, but it screwed my 2 PCs - one of which was a brand new, clean Laptop - NOD32 for me now.

Would be my criticism too. Sure, it can find stuff, but not without destroying the system first
