Unfortunately you won't get rid of the double-speed readings, since what the software basically does is create some kind of additional artificial LAN connection, through which all of your connections go (it's a bit more complicated than that, but that's just how I understand it
). So in fact by having it running you have two connections open - your regular ADSL (or whatever) and this artificial LAN, through which ALL DL and UL goes, so all the tools that measure the network traffic will just sum it up (as they basically sum up
all the network traffic from the system they are installed on) and come up with the real value doubled (used to piss me off too by showing 160KB DL
).
By the way I tried this software last September (or October) for about a week. Unfortunately it was a complete shit (well, at least on two of my PCs that I tried it) on my ADSL. Except for the double speed readings, which I could endure (though they
were pretty irritating), it actually used to cut off some of the connections, slow down the http and generally make a mess (plus, it was almost non-configurable), and on top of that it used to just freeze my ADSL every 5 or so hours. Don't have any idea why or how, but with this crap running, the connection used to just go dead - it used to show that it was on, but nothing could get in or out and I had to manually restart the connection every time to make it work (and I couldn't just set that on auto, since the connection wasn't shown as "lost", it was just dead), which was probably the most annoying thing about it. And since with but a few tweaks (change TCPWindow size, MTU size and so on) I get a near 100% use of my 640/160 (and sometimes a bit more, as it can go up to ~85/23KB), I don't think I'll ever need this thing.
Generally, everybody should just try it for themselves, though.
