i'm not 100% committed to ??torrent yet.....was grabbing a torrent earlier and it was having trouble connecting to the tracker but was getting seeds/peers from DHT but speeds where sluggish....thought i'd give bitcomet a shot and within minutes i was at full speed on d/l and connecting to all seeds/peers via tracker :D BUT i gave ?torrent another try for a period of time and again it fails to connect to a decent amount of seeds/peers and speeds still sluggish....So fire up bitcomet again and boom speeds start flying again and within half the time i gave ?torrent to download some chunks bitcomet had practically doubled it's amount if not tripled it :o

Only thing that bothers me still is bitcomets complete lack of bandwidth allocation.....not a problem when i only have one torrent running that can have all the bandwidth but when i have more than one it's a waste of time trying to dedicate a certain amount of bandwidth to torrents i'd want to give more to as it can't handle it :(

so the dilemna continues.....?torrent is nice for bandwidth allocation and can sometimes get half decent speeds down so great when you have more than one torrent on the go or Bitcomet with flying download speeds within minutes but crap bandwidth allocation when running mutiple torrents :wacky:

can anyone see a solution to this problem?....ok it's not really a problem but ah well :P

I used bitcomet for a while until utorrent had dht, but ABC seemed better than bitcomet speed wise

guess its all a matter of abstraction.

@tramline, look at you with your ickle ? keys

ALT 0181
?
:P

ABC wasn't as good as bitcomet for me speedwise :wacky:

BUT another downfall for me with bitcomet was for putting a new torrent on a tracker...it's seeding/superseeding was shite IMO so ? :P torrent wins on that aswell since i had no problems seeding/superseeding with it......oh what to do what to do....i guess i'll just go between both depending on where i'm grabbing the torrents from and how many i'm grabbing at the time
:D

Well I've tried utorrent (eventually). It's OK for sure with that small resource usage and it can take an ipfilter.dat file, which saves using PG2.

I'm still not sold though. I get similar results to Bassline. Uploads and downloads are less than with Az and it doesn't connect to as many peers, seeds or leechers. I've been looking through the forums at some of solutions and when I get more time I'll try them out. I did check all the settings though which seem OK but found this:

Quote:
In advanced options change:
net.low_cpu to false
net.max_halfopen to 50 (never get more than 4 or 5 open unless you've got more than 1 torrent going or when a torrent is starting up)
diskio_write_queue_size to 2000 (reset this if uploading still sucks...)

Right now I'm back with Azureus and emule together (utorrent would be much better in this configuration though), but I won't rule out utorrent just yet.

My router can't handle the number of connections when i run bt and ed2k at once, since emule just connects to loads of people really fast. :( (or should that be :) ? )

for teh few torrents i grab this is has been what i use too . no idea whether more recent releases have added anything essential but BitTornado grabs things pretty damn fast for me. i had tried others before but this was teh only one that would work for me
