I'm not sure you'll find anybody to take you up on that, nobody wants to lose £5

True enough, good point.

Unless one can make a rhetorical bet?

Hope so, either way that means I'll win when this bag of balls gets released.

I think it will be a great movie! They should also remake the Dawn of the Dead Remake. Remaking remakes is so much fun! Oh, aren´t they remaking Cronenberg´s "The Fly"? Let´s remake all the remakes! Holywood's going nuts! We really have to stop being curious and watch all this shit, or they´ll just keep on doing it. I´m talking about myself here, there´s not a single horror remake that I haven´t seen. Shame on me, they're all garbage and I just don´t learn!

the best thing about this film being made is that usualy when a remake is coming out, there is almost always a special edition of the original released. That is something we could all enjoy.

Just for reasons of balance, I have to say I really enjoyed the 50's version the two times I've seen it.

However, societal trends shifted far more dramatically between the 50's and the 80's then they have from the 80's until now. I know the counter arguments to this can find many examples to dispute what I'm saying; but... Oh blah, blah, blah. I still can't think of any way that this film can be justified without thinking it all comes down to profit and nothing else.

£5 says it'll be a dumbed down peice of crap.

I am largely against remakes in general. Watching a movie that you
already know what the plot is usually a waste of time. That being said,
if a director/studio feels the deep dark need to remake a movie then it
should have enough differences in it to have it stand on it's own (much
like Carpenter's The Thing).

But, I think Perkin2000 has it right in that it is all about the money.
I'd almost rather think the studios are so desperate for scripts that they
have just run out of ideas but... it is the money. They have built in
audiences with say, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, The Fog, The Wickerman,
etc. So, if they can guarantee that it'll turn a profit, they do it. :shadey:

Ahh, come on, Pinhead will look much better in CGI, the Thing also, and it´s so much cheaper and what you save in FX and script and decent actors you can put into PR and heavy rotation for the endcredits-song...

the thing 82 has to be one of the best remakes ive ever seen next to the fly
but doing another remake of a remake is just plain silly, they should do a prequel(like the game) or a sequel to the thing. not redo it

If it is a good sequel I coul'd agree :wacky:
And no, I'm not mad (hehehehe) if I agree is because of the great comics that Kamlem has shared about it ;)

Oh well. If you're gonna remake something, it should be a piece of crap like April Fool's Day. Nowhere to go but up. Still...why bother?

I liked it.

I can see the remake being a lot worse. The old one has a certain charm.
