I've heard the best version available is the Thai Region 3 disc, a fully uncut print and apparently the transfer is really nice and sharp, way better then the Paramount region 1 version. Don't know how the UK one will compare, but I may well buy the Thai one for some rippage.

well, I guess if you can see doc naked then it's uncut. (the movie is uncut I mean.. don't know about doc=)

Friday the 13th: 18 90:44s 1980 US film by Sean S Cunningham (Warner Home Video)

The film was cut by about 10s for a US R rating. This cut version was submitted for the UK cinema release and pre-VRA video. No further cuts were required by the BBFC for the video release. The cut scenes are available as RealPlayer clips at Dark Angel's Relam of Horror

1. Annie has her throat cut. The 18 cert, version adds the white out before we get a good glimpse at the Tom Savini created FX.
2. Kevin Bacon's girlfriend gets an axe in the skull: Once again this cuts away to an early, imposed, whiteout. There is about a second more of gory detail. (see below)
3. A birds eye view of Kevin Bacon with a spear exiting out of his throat has been censored (this is approx. 4 seconds long). The current version shows us a side view of his death then jumps before we get the other angle.
4. The decapitation of Mrs. Voorhees has been cut of one sequence involving her headless torso. The cut is quite obtrusive and the sequence has been slightly re edited so that we cut back to Alice sooner than we should. The sound jumps too, so it's not hard to notice this cut.

In Tom Dewe Matthew's Censored book, and elsewhere, a still of the first female victim (in the prologue) with a machete through her throat is printed. In the film we do not see her murder, the screen instead giving way to the title. This scene was, presumably, filmed but whether it was cut for a USA cinema rating seems confusing.

It has been reported to me that the second cut in the list is restored on the 1995 release of the video from Warner Home Video (Terrorvision) Catalog No SO11172.

It appears that although the US DVD states that it is R rated, it is in fact the uncut version.

There has been talk of a Warner Brothers internationally released special edition in 2003.

My UK DVD of "Friday the 13th" arrived through the letterbox this morning. Excellent disc, good picture quality, its of the original uncut version, and there's some great extras.

The 20 min "making of" feature is kind of fun, Adrienne King is still
amazingly good looking considering she's gotta be in her early 40's now, and it's amazing to see that Betsy Palmer doesn't really look all that much older than she did back then.

The so-called "directors commentary" isn't as good as it should be, as it appears to be made up of audio excerpts strung togethor that were taken from the "making-of" feature and so seems to have little relation to whats hactually appeneing on-screen.

But apart from that It's a great DVD. Pity that Paramount couldn't be bothered for the US release.

This will be the 3th release of this flick I'm going to download in search for the perfect rip of Friday the 13th...

and the most hilarious thing is that this film pretty much sucks ass
