Hey guys,

I was wondering if any of you guys have any recommendations for some good, enjoyable independant or hollywood horror/gore films of recent years that they would recommend for a watch for light entertainment.

I guess i can attach a list of films that are new and I've enjoyed watching, I'm looking for some good new movies along the same lines as:
Dead and Breakfast
Evil Aliens
Mucha Sangre
Sar Wars
Undead

All of which i've enjoyed and I seem to remember. I'll post more that i've seen of similar vein from recent years, so i'll add them when they come back to me.

I know modern horror is often frowned upon or not thought of in the same line as previous decades, but i've thinking about movies and could probably come up with a list of "modern classics".

I don't really discriminate against any language, or type of films, although if only a dubbed version is available i probably wouldn't watch it

:beerchug:

yeah, that's one fun movie :)

About a decade too old from what a guy likes me considers new though... hell, that's Braindead territory back then :)

i've seen them all already. They are indeed fun new movies though :) A bit too big a budget in some cases though.

then u must watch PLANE DEAD...gore, lower budget movie..cheesy gore flick which u'll laugh about...definitely light entertainment!
u ever watch CUBE? part 1...the rest part 2, zero are all crap...but the first one was cool...low budget, but awesome plot.
not neccessarily gore, but my all time favorite is still IN THE MOUTH OF MADNESS...with Sam o'neil...awesome story.
the one and only film which made me gag was IN THE SKIN...quebec film...

Both parts of Grindhouse were gory fun. Planet Terror far better, but Death Proof had its moments.

Meatball Machine is probably a gorefest. Can't recommend it, because I haven't seen it. Junk (2000) was pretty gory. Don't remember much except it was a decent zombie movie with some gore. Hypnosis (1999) had some good gore and an interesting story.
There was another one. Quite good. About a town with a strange signal from a van driving everyone crazy. Some good gore at the end and a pretty cool movie, in my opinion.

cube, in the mouth, etc. are too old. I watched in the mouth of madness a week back since i just bought it on dvd. I love the film but its not really the kind i was meaning :)

versus is getting on a bit, and honestly (I'm probably going to get jumped), i think its a bit retarded and bling. It doesn't really pull of the style and the plot is a tad retarded. I remember it being too long, that was the main problem.

Grindhouse isn't out for ages and they've retarded it up.

Now Meatball Machine I've just downloaded so maybe i can watch that. I just bought bio-zombie so i might watch that too although that's old now so doesn't meet the criteria.

Retarded seems to be the word of the moment for you. lol.
Well, I agree about Versus. Mind you, I watched it out of my mind and it was hilarious. That one guy rolling backwards into all the scenes. It doesn't really pull it off, but oh well. Grinhouse is definitely campy. But you didn't say they had to be scary.

Thai movie, Scared (2005) had some good gore. The movie ended up being a letdown, but the gore was decent.
How was Meatball Machine?
