Battle Of The Amazons - title says all. This about amazons, and there are a lot of battles. The storyline is cliche (village gets help from renegade bandits to defend themselves against the evil amazons), there's a lot of foghting, some tits, some gore and even some so bad it's good stuff. For example: when the women of the village are shooting off a rain of arrows into the fighting crowd, surprisingly only the amazons are hit and not the defenders of the village. It is a nice timefiller, but not something really special.

The Borrower - some really funny stuff in this one and of course Madchen Amick, although she only gets some 5 minutes of screentime, which is too short. There are two storylines, which is nice. Apart from these things, the film is rather slow and repetitive, which makes it perfect for a late night viewing, otherwise it might get too boring. If more action would have been on screen, it would have been a little more interesting. I was a bit disappointed how the two storylines come together: actually they both end quite abruptly. Not a film which I'm gonna watch again soon.

Surrogates. A nice one. I really enjoyed it. Interesting story. Original idea. Well done.

Gamer. Crap. Deletion after 15 minutes, which is quite long for me. So I gave this one a real chance. Story sounded interesting, but confuse realisation. I am not the slightest interested in surreal crap or some pseudo artistic stuff.

I watched "The Tournament" today. Mindless action flick, but it had some pretty decent gore(Explodies[head and body variety], severed limbs, strippers getting shotgunned) and the action was way beyond what I thought a straight to DVD flick would be. Highly recommended.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0471041/

I also watched "Camille." It wasn't a horror movie per se, but it did involve a girl who dies in a motorcycle accident and doesn't know it. It's kind of a modern day fairy tale sorta.. Here's the IMDB plot because I'm horrible at explaining things.

Quote:
A twisted honeymoon road trip about a young couple on their way to Niagara Falls. SILAS PARKER is a moody petty-thief. He marries his parole officer's niece, believing that he can use the romantic honeymoon to escape to Canada. CAMILLE FOSTER is the sweetest girl you can ever hope to meet. She truly believes that Niagara Falls will change Silas for the better and won't let anything stop the honeymoon, not even her death

I mostly watched it because I like James Franco, and it was recommended by a friend.

Habit - I think the makers of this movie wanted to create an intelligent horror movie, one which takes notes on emotions and stuff. The result is a very, very long and dragging film, which sometimes resembles an overly long episode of a soap series. I was bored for most of the first half (which is one hour, as this movie runs for almost two), the film only started to show some horrorish stuff in the second half. And then still, it was too little. I guess you're supposed to think of the main character as a guy who gets confused: is he really experiencing this or is it all his mind which is fooling him? Is he going mad? Well, I have seen this stuff before, and much better too. So I'm not gonna recommend this one, as it is too long and too indecisive on what it wants.

Heh, I forgot to mention: I have reached a milestone. I have no rips of horrormovies left to watch, as I have seen them all. So this means I'm gonna finish watching my DVD collection. I have 257 films left, so together with scifi, warmovies and the occasional other movie, this will be another year of watching, I guess.

Gamer too. Unlike Wargand I watched to the end, which was an endurance, and totally frogettable.

Moon - fantastic movie, a real pleasure to get a film like this these days and probalby cost 1/10 of what it cost to make Gamer.

Pandorum - starts out a bit like 28 Days Later, with a guy waking up in a pod in a spaceship. He goes on finding former colleagues, and encounters several people and some weird creatures. The atmosphere is great: eerie and with tension in the air almost constantly. Acting is done well, a relief after having watched so many crapmovies. Onl drawback was some of the cgi, if only that was made better... In the end I lost touch a bit, due to late watching hour, but it was an OK ending, nothing great, but at least no dull stuff. Recommended.

Jennifers Body - why do the effects have to be cgi? Do the sugarbabes of Hollywood not like it to be covered in goo? Like it will be permanent... Like in Drag Me To Hell, the cgi gore is the major drawback on this film. The storyline is so-so, the acting is quite good and all in all the movie is quite enjoyable, but the cgi ruins it. Again. Shame. Mildly recommended.

I watched an indie movie called INK. It was pretty good for what it was.

Here's the Netflix synopsis:
Late one night, a lost soul named Ink snatches 8-year-old Emma (Quinn Hunchar) into the world of dreams. There, he hopes to use her soul to join the ranks of the evil Incubi. In the real world, Emma lies comatose, to the despair of her father, John (Chris Kelly). But the Incubi's benevolent opposites -- the Storytellers -- rally to help Emma, motivating John to wage war for his daughter. Jessica Duffy co-stars in this dark fable.

It has 4 1/2 stars out of 5 with 29,591 ratings.

Cinema Visits:
2012 (2009): This is a computer generated action movie. It was kind of cool, but too long. At the end I wondered why the world didn't actually end. :outsider:

Zombieland (2009): Cool movie with good actors. Bill Murray's appearance was fun. They could have put some more jokes into - for my taste. It was worth the money.

Twilight Saga - New Moon (2009): The first part of this movie is very boring. You see a girl get separated from her vampire boyfriend and fall into a depression. This just takes up too much time of the movie. The acting was passable. Problem with this movie is that it's nothing new. Everything in it has been seen before, except maybe the glittering of the vampires when the sun touches their skin - looked kind of funny.

Movie Session At Home
City of the Living Dead (1980): Gore zombie fest with some nice bloody killing scenes. Don't let the title mislead you (like it did me). It's not actually a city, from what you get to see it looks more like a little village. Very few characters and zombies and therefore not as much fun as it could have been. Those few monsters in it however have awesome make-up and look really really scary - like the main villain: a pale white zombie priest. Recommended despite the low number of zombies.

House of the Devil: It has a great atmosphere like a movie from the 80's but after 40 minutes i thought "now something will happen" but i waited to minute 80 to see some action or movie turn them the movie turns into a predictible 1000 times watched ending.

Fallen (1998): A movie to be added in the thread with nice horror movies of the 1990s. A detective (Denzel Washington) hunts a demon that can move from one person to another by solely touching it. Nice cast. There is no gore; it's rather a psychological horror movie. Recommended.

Pandorum (2009): Very good sci-fi/horror movie. Some people awake from hypersleep in a huge space ship that is on its way to a new planet Earth. Unfortunately they can't really remember what happened. The ship is quite empty, only those dangerous monsters are lurking around feeding on the remaining ship crew. This movie is compared to Event Horizon (awesome movie!) a lot. Event Horizon had a better cast but not that much action imho. Worth watching, especially to see a hot Antje Traue.

Agreed, still wondering why all the good reviews. Predictible and boring... Oh, and no T&A, that could have saved the film :googley:

3:10 to Yuma (2007): Nice western movie with a lot of famous actors. Christian Bale has to escort a robber to a train, while the robber's gang is chasing him and his helpers. What really was strange about this movie, was the ending. I read that they cut out a very important scene and that is why it seems so awkward. Now that I know, the final scene makes a (little bit more) sense.
