Post subject: | Classic movie suggestions |
Every year at Halloween, I host a horror film game show at the community radio station I work for. Basically, I play various audio clips from classic (and not so classic) horror movies, and people have to call in and identify which movie the clips are from. Here's a list of the movies I have already used: (The.Fall.of) The House of Usher a nightmare on elm street III ABBOTT & COSTELLO MEET FRANKENSTEIN An American Werewolf in London (1981) Anaconda Army of Darkness Arsenic and Old Lace Attack of the Crab Monsters Attack Of The Giant Leeches Beetlejuice bram stoker's dracula Bride of the Gorilla carrie Cat's Eye Child's Play christine Creature From The Black Lagoon (1954) Curse Of Frankenstein (1957) Curse Of The Demon (1957) Dawn of the Dead (newer version) Dawn of the Dead 1978 Donovan's Brain (1953) Don't look now (1973) dr jekyll and mr hyde (1931) dracula (Bela Lugosi) dracula - dead and loving it Dracula's Daughter 1936 evil dead 2 exorsist 3 flatliners Frankenstein (1941) Freaks (1932) Friday The 13th From Dusk Till Dawn ghoulies Ginger Snaps II Unleashed Halloween Haunted Honeymoon Homicidal (1961) House on Haunted Hill I walked with a Zombie I was a teenage zombie Idle Hands Interview with the vampire invasion of the body snatchers Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1956) Island of Terror jaws Kolchak - The Night Stalker (1971) Leprechaun 3 madman 1982 night of the living dead Pet.Sematary (1989) Poltergeist Prom Night Psycho Re-animator return of the living dead rosemary`s baby scream Se7en Session 9 sleepy hollow Slither (2006) son of frankenstein Taste the Blood of Dracula The Abominable Snowman (1957) The Beast with Five Fingers The Birds The Blob The Boogie Man Will Get You (1942) The Bride of Frankenstein (1935) The Devil's Advocate The Fly The Invisible Man (1933) The Legend Of Hell House (1973) The Mummy (1959) the mummy The Omen the others The People Under the Stairs The Silence of the Lambs The Thing That Couldn't Die (1958) The Wolfman (1941) The Tingler (1959) Theatre of Blood (1973) urban legend Villiage of the Damned (1960) Whatever Happened to Baby Jane Young Frankenstein Every year I like to pick at least 1 movie from each of the genres of horror - vampires, werewolves, psycho killers, ghosts, zombies, monsters, etc. Obscure movies aren't really fair to the audience (but can be fun if the movie has good cheesy lines), and if the movie is too big, it will be identified too quickly. So I'm asking for suggestions for which movies I should use next year. Movies that at least 1 person out of 10 should have heard about. (No foreign titles please, unless they are originally made in English.) I'd also love a suggestion of another good Peter Lorre horror movie besides 'The Beast With Five Fingers'. I was dismayed to find out he never actually played the part of Igor in any movie (even though I've heard many imitations of Igor done in a Peter Lorre style voice.) Thanks! |

How about: The Gate (1987) Other than that, this site is dedicated to horror movies. There are many classics here you only have to invest some time and search. I am sure you will find many interesting movies. |

They all sound like great suggestions! Keep 'em coming, (but take your time. Just watching the ones already posted will take a few days! ) The problem I have with selecting movies from the releases here, is that there are soooo many to choose from. I have done extensive research on the matter though, like reading reviews, top 100 lists, and rating scores. I have gone to Wikipedia, IMDB, Allmovies, and a many other horror fan sites. It's how I compiled the list above. This is the first time I have ever requested suggestions online. I couldn't think of a better place to ask. |

Thanks! Give me time to watch all of those (some again), and I'll post when I need more. @ Admin: Perhaps this thread should be moved to 'Horror Fanatics Cabal'. Just noticed that section today. (oops) Horror Fanatics Cabal |

Hmm... that should be in my list, (let me fix that.) The 1941 Frankenstein version of that line is good because that's the first movie (as far as I know) it was said in. I've always thought the version in Young Frankenstein made a better audio sample though IMHO. |
