I figure we dont talk about reading much. Probably due to the fact that some of us cant read....damnit.....But I figured I would let us post our favorite horror novels here so maybe some of us literate types might find something new and interesting to read. So Here goes!
My fav series is the Necroscope series by Brian Lumley which is an awesome read and there are 15 books or so all related so I strongly suggest you pick them up!!

My favorite novel is Clive Barker's "The Damnation Game". I read a lot of Stephen King too. Everything very mainstream, I know. It´s dificult to find good translations of other horror authors in portuguese, and I take too long when I read in english.

I don't read much. At least not novels. When I read something it is usually a technical guide or book. That comes with my job.
But I like Edgar Allan Poe's novels.

*grin* I had once the same problem. But than I started to read some fantasy series. Don't ask me which one. The problem was, that I was fascinated, but the German translation was way behind the English original. One book was a cliffhanger. I did not want to wait month for the conclusion, so I took the english original. Baaad mistake. Now I'd had to wait ages until I could have gotten a new, unknown book in German, so I had to go on with the English stuff.
Bad mistake? Not really. I did not take much time until I could read English almost as fast as German.

Lovecraft is still unequalled.
I liked very much Clive Barker's "Books of blood" but there's no way to end a book like Lord of Illusions.
Stephen King bored me when he started to write books with million of pages.
Beside that i quote this
Quote: | i prefer SF in books and horror in movies |
or even in comics: there are a lot of good quality zombie/vampire comics (Steve Niles or the Walking Dead series)

Anything by Richard Laymon - trashy, weird sicko killers at their best.

I am fairly mainstream in my reading, but also pretty eclectic when it comes to genres. I have read and enjoyed books from pretty much all genres.
Unfortunately I do not have time to read as much as I would like to these days, currently quite into general science literature.
I am proud to say I have read what are considered some of the best books around, classics and new.
