Any movies you get caught watching alone at night that you wish you had friends over to help shoulder some of the psychological brunt of?

For me, I'll start this off with The Changeling (1980), Honogurai mizu no soko kara (2002), and Kairo (2001).

When I was young "A Nightmare On Elm Street" was freaking me out. But not today.

Today I'd say all those Asian horror movies with strange noises and creepy looking people, like Ju-On, One Missed Call and stuff like that. :googley:

"Stephen King's Pet Sematary" made me have bad dream when I was a child.

Salo or 120 Days in Sodom was a film I watched and where I was glad I was watching it together with someone else.

There is this type of movies which give me the feeling of being sick and depraved when I watch them alone, like the Guinea Pig movies, and Nekromantik and the like. When I watch them with friends, it's OK, but watching them alone makes me feel like a freak. Anyone else has the same experiences?

You mean like feeling like a freak? :D Not really. I don't watch movies beyond a specific level like you do. :) If it looks like shit and people say it is I'm not going to taste it. I'm looking around quite a while before downloading something.

Yes, I meant "feeling like a freak", but only when you watch something quite shocking on your own. Like Guinea Pig 1, for example, I really had to watch it with someone else to sit it through.

Although I can imagine you maybe don't believe me, but I also have a specific level, but it is a tad lower than yours ;) A bad movie is not always shocking, however.

Those movies with Jap chicks with seafood in their holes is nothing for me: that's beyond my specific level, as well as too much reality.

Of all things, Creepshow still gives me the shivers. I saw this as a kid and I think
I haven't let go of the trauma. 'The Thing' also will get my heart a racin'.

The original When a Stranger Calls still scares me if I am alone and the original Black Christmas...those phone calls--yipes! I know some people find them funny or campy but they still scare the shit out of me....

Yeah, actually both of those creeped me out... 'When A Stranger Calls Back' was pretty creepy as well, especially at the beginning.

'In The Mouth of Madness' was another one. Especially when Julie Carmen is driving... Women drivers are scary enough by themselves, but throw in a kid on a bicycle warping into a creepy old guy on a bicycle and my feet stop dangling over the side of the bed pretty quickly. Twenty-six and still pulling my feet up from monsters under the bed/couch... :wacky:

I thought When A Stranger Calls Back was scary as well--much better than I expected and I loved watching cute little Carol Kane kick some ass! You are right, just like the first one the best part is the beginning-- In the Mouth of Madness is quite creepy too--I am a HUGE Carpenter fan (no rock throwing please...hee hee) and most of his films have great scare moments in them but In the Mouth is very disturbing to me and stuck with me for quite a while after I saw it

Ooooh good one--I was pretty young when the film came out and it scared me too--when I read the book I used to have to take it out of my bedroom before I could sleep...lol Pennywise is one of the scarier "monsters" of fiction IMO

It has some scary moments, but not something you can't watch alone. I recommend this movie highly, as it is a good one. Go watch it!

I watched it alone the first time. Zombie movies never really freak me out. I say go for it.
